LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS OPPOSE RED BANK TODAY] . - 1 — — ■■ ■ ■' !]■!■■* ■ MCE TO GET ! ' I iohn Mallet Writes Harmony Five Real Opponent for , Speedways _______ {The following communication j has been received from John Mallet ' requesting the booking of *a game i between the Speedways and the Harmony live so that the former; team can get some real opposition for their games on the Auditorium 1 "Perth Amboy, Jan. 30. 1922. "Sporting Editor, *‘P. A. Evening News. '‘Hear Sir:—It is, of course, a pleasure to read of llie many vie lories of (lie Perth Amboy Speed- I ways, inasmuch ns tin- Speedways J purport to represent Perth Amboy to have the best teams obtainable in the town. The chief trouble stfems to be the lack of good strong j opposition. The Speedways have j met and defeated a number of teams I on tha Auditorium court In which rne opposing teams were toyed wttn and real opposition was furnished only one or two occasions. "Since the Speedways are looking for opposition that can make them hustle, why Uo they not book the Harmony Five of this city, who can no doubt put up real opposition. "While it is true the Harmony Five haven't played much in this vicinity, most of them have been playing together all season repre senting tlie Somerville K. of C„ where they have compiled a. credita ble record. Any team with Hogan, Glochau, ItuSc Allen should be able i to make the Speedways step and would ver' likely win. If the Speed ways are the representative team, why is is that Hcgan Is not on tlieir roster, inasmuch as he is one of the fastest basketball players in the city. "Now if the Speedway manage ment is sincere in its desire to play some real teams, It isn’t necessary to go far, for the opposition can be found right in this city. “All the talk about a series be tween the Speedways and tho Y. M. H. A. or the llooseveit Separates will not amount to much, as neither f;if these teams would have much of J chance on the Auditorium court and the arranging of a series would lot provide much real basketball. “Hoping to see some opposition m the Auditorium court soon, and ‘hanking you for the space, I am. “Sincerely yours, “JOHN MALT.ET, “27 Smith Street.” - I POLICE SOCIAL • > CLUB TO PLAT Will Oppose Keystone Five in Game Next Friday Night The Keystone Five of the local Pennsylvania Railroad Company freight office will play the Police Social Club basketball team on Kozusko's hall court on Friday night.
