The tinal score of this game was 81-23, and the result gave the Sterlings a two to one advan tage in the five game series between the two teams. H. GIRLS TO Independents Play In Newark, New York And On Home Court The South Amboy Independent Gilds’ basketball team has three games scheduled for this week. To morrow night a return game will be played with the Presbyterian Hop lites at Newark, on Thursday night the Roselle Girls at South Amboy, and on Friday night the Pennsylva nia Railroad Girls in New York. * Two of tliese teams have already been defeated by liie Independents this week on the South Amboy court, and Miss Bennett's players hope to repeat on the courts of the apposition. It is expected that the South Amboy lineup for these games will be chosen from the Misses Kdna Bennett, Dora Forgot <on, Marie Handerhan, Katherine Miller, Marion Thorn and Sully CVConnor. MIKE SOO SIGNS CONTRACT WITH PORTSMOUTH, VA. KEASUKY, Feb. 7—Michael | “Ponza” Soo, the local southpaw, who was with several baseball clubs in the Piedmont League last season lias received a suitable contract from the Portsmouth Club of Virginia, for this season, and has returned it with his signature attached. Soo went with tlie southern teams early last season but could not seem to get going properly. March 0, are expected to bo placed on sale following the meeting of the committee of twenty-five members of the club with Kcv. Father Charles Prendcrgast in St. Mary's hall to night. This is the second meeting of the committee, and the business session will "start promptly at 8 o'clock.
