Frelinghuysen today succeeded in having an appropria tion of $100,000 for restoring and repairing Barnegat lighthouse put in the commerce department appro priation bill during debate over the » measure in the senate. Senator Frelinghuysen and Con gressman Frank Appieb.v of Asbury Park, have devoted considerable ef fort during the past six months to \ _ trying to secure this appropriation. 1 f They secured some weeks ago the approval of Secretary Hoover, w hose [ department has charge of lighthous es. and Director of the Budget Dawes wdio under the budget system now has to approve all appropriations before they can be made. When tlie bill before the House ten ilajs ago it wa* then be lieved this item was Included in a lump sum appropriation of four mil lion dollars for lighthouse construc tion. repairs and maintenance. After the bill hud passed the House it was discovered Barnegat Light was not provided for. Senator 1'relinghuyscn at once took the matter to President Hard ing, Secretary Hoover and General Halves and secured their unanimous approval. Today he brought the matter lip In the senate and after fully explaining the situation and presenting approvals of the appro priation by the President, Hoover and Dawes, obtained also the Sen ate's acceptance of it. WASHINGTON, March 10.—Sen ators Krelinghuynen and Ildge and all the New Jersey congressmen have been invited to attend a dinner in honor of Senator Hunyon at the Stacy-Trent Hotel in Trenton, at 6 [ o'clock next Wednesday night. Vanderbilt of Newark, former chair man of the Essex county Republican organization, who will be Mr. Run yon’s campaign manager in his race for the governorship of New Jersey on the Republican ticket this fall. ENGINEERS SEND THANKS TO LOCAL MANUFACTURERS In a communication just received by the Perth Amboy Industrial As soclatlop from the American Insti tute or Mining and Metallurgical Engineers, the association and the city of Perth Amboy, is extended the sincere thanks of the Institute for making possible the visit of the engineers to tile various plants in this city*. The engineers while attending the annual meeting of the institute in New York City were given an ex cursion to this city, and shown about the various plants, following ] a luncheon at the Y. M. C. A.
