NEW BRUNSWICK. March 27.—
An action in chancery seeking the
partition of a plot of land in Rail
way avenue. Roosevelt, has been
started. according to the notices
iiled in the office of the county clerk
here. The land, :i plot one hundred
feet square, was left by James Fee.

mysterious) disappearance from
school caused a nation-wide search
to be» started. After three days she
was found living· in a room and look
ing: for a job. "Wanted to prove I
could earn my own living," she said.
EPIDEMIC OF FIRES
IN RARITAN TOWNSHIP
ΜΚΤΓΟΗΕΝ, March 27.—An épi
démie of fires broke out in the bor
ough on Saturday, five alarms being
turned- in during the afternoon.
Karitan township also came in for its
share, four fires having been report
ed there.
Saturday's blazes are all believed
to have been the result of careless
burning of brush and rubbish. In
all but one instance the flames were
extinguished before damage was
done to buildings, but at the Bats
ford home on Middlesex avenue
slight damage was done to the roof
which became ignited from flying
sparks.
Four brush fires were reported in
Ilaritan township during the after
noon and it was said that two indus
trial plants had been badly dam
aged by the flames. This was later
found to be false, however.
METUCHEN
Morgan It. Compton', r.ho died at
Plain field un Thursday, was buried
at Hillside cemetery here on Satur
day afternoon. Services at the home
of a son were conducted by the Me
tuchen council of the junior Order
of the United American Mechanics,
while at the grave the ceremonies
were in charge of Franklin Council
of Plainfield, of which chapter the
deceased was a member at the time
of his death.
Members of the Chamber of Com
merce have been notified that the
plans for the borough sewer system
are to be presented tor the consid
eration of the state board of health
at the April meeting of the board. It
is expected that the plans will be ap
proved and that Metuchen will short
ly have its sewers, as the result of
agitation on the part of the cham
ber of commerce and with the co
operation of the borough council.
COUNTY NEWS
NEW BRUNSWICK. March 27.—
Actions in the supreme court and
circuit court were started today by
the serving of papers by the sher
iff.
The supreme court suit is brought
by William Bolgan against Steve
Ganger, both of whom are resident's
of this city. The plaintiff seeks to
collect $1,200 \vith Interest, claiming
lie loaned that amount to Qanga in
1919. The circuit court suit is by
John F. Bernhardt and is to recover
$202 on a mechanic's lien clairr
from Josephine Gumina. Bernhardt
claims he did the excavation work in
connection with the construction ol
a house at 180 Baldwin street, pay
ment for which was never made.
