BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY' OF PERTH AMBOY: (1) That pursuant to the act of the legislature of the State of New Jersey, approved March 22, 1916, constituting Chapter 252 of the Laws of 1916, as amended, bonds of the City of Pertli Am boy, to be known as Library Bonds, are hereby authorized to be issued in the ag gregate principal amount of $2,500.00 for the purpose hereinafter stated, for which purpose It is necessary to raise said amount of money. Said bonds shall be of the de nomination of $500.00 each, and shall be numbered consecutively from 1 to 5. In clusive. They shall be dated September 1st, 1922, and shall bear Interest from their date at the rate of fi-ve per centum (5%) per annum, payable semi-annually on the first day of March and September In each year until maturity, and Afrall ma ture In order as numbered, begintt^g with bond No. 1 and In five annual installments or series of $500.00 each, payable on the first day of September in each of the years 1923 to 1927, Inclusive. (2) The money to be raised by the Is suance of said bonds shall be applied to the purpose of paying for the reconstruc tion of portions of the Public Library Building and for equipment for said building (3) The following matters are hereby determined and declared pursuant to t$3 Statute: <a) That the average period of useful ness of the improvements and properties for which bonds are hereby authorized to be issued is ten (10) years. (b) The average assessed valuation of the taxable real property, including im provements. of said city, computeuupon the next preceding three valuations there of In the manner provided by Section 12 of said Chapter 252 of the Laws of 1916, as amended, is $25,181,838. (c) The net debt of said city in the man ner provided In said section is $1,560,479.16 (d) The annual and supplemental debt statement required by said Section 12 has been made and filed by the city clerk as required by said act. (e) There shall be levied In each 3 ear while any of the said bonds shall be out standing In the same manner and at the same time as other taxes, a tax upon all the taxable property of the said city suf ficient to produce the amount of principal and Interest to mature In the succeeding year; and said bonds shall be sold by the city treasurer In accordance with the stat ute, who shall have the power to fix the necessary details. (f) This ordinance shall take effect upon Its publication, as provided by said statute and the city clerk shall have power to, select the newspaper in which It shall be. published, and to specify the date after which the bonds shall be Issued and de livered. The foregoing ordinance was Introduced and passed on first reading at the meeting of the Council of the City of Perth Amboy. N.
