mouth Monday and Tuesday on busi
ness. The engineers, who have been here
for several weeks making a geological
survey for the government, left for
their homes Monday.
L. E. Shirley lef; Saturday for a
three months trip to South America
for the C. S. Bell Co. Mrs. Shirley has
gone to Chicago to visit relatives
Catherine, the four year old daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Brooks White,,
died Friday night after a short illness
with diphtheria The funeral was a
private one on account of the nature
of the disease.

Everett Hawk, of Cincinnati, was
the guest of his aunt, Mrs. Kate Rosse
lott, Saturday evening.
Miss Kate Crosier visited her broth
er, Wm. Crosier, at Hiilsboro, last
week.
Miss Mattle Itosselott spent Friday
in Cincinnati shopping. She was
accompanied by her aunt. Mrs. C. F.
itosselott.
Prof. Gaza, of Cincinnati, spent Sat
urday with C. W. Matthews.
A. A. Davis accompanied his par
ents, Wm. Davis and wife, of Williams
burg, home last week.
Buford is favored by the Farmers
Institute this week, Monday and
Tuesday.
Mrs. Eva Weaver and Worth Haines
were .married Dec. 12, at her home by
Rev. Crabtree.
Dr. Elmer Miller and family will
sail Dec. 23 for India, where he has
served 7 years as a missionary.
Special protracted services are being
held at the Christian church. It will
pay you to attend. The praise service
has recently been added to by a new
piano and other musical instruments
that lend inspiration. Rev. Crabtree
is not only a fluent speader but fear
less, forceful and convincing. Evange
list Nathan Crabtree and other noted
singers will bo present during this
series of meeting. Come and bring

A contract for the building of three
miles of state highway on Georgetown
and Wilmington road In Brown county
was let by the State Highway Depart
ment to Thurber & Browning Co., of
Cincinnati, Friday. The road will
cost $30,850.
