Who is there among us who is not familiar with the firm style of Gaetls & Co., and equally acquainted with their staid and relia ble mode of doing business ? We know of few firms with equal claims on public confi dence, and hence an intimation from their side may verily be taken to its full value. Since the first of April we find them announc ing a reduction of stock at rery low price, and from this simple announcement we were assured such was unquestionably the case a fact fully substantiated in our mind by a re cent visit to their extensive store, where we found one of the largest and best selected stocks it has ever been our privilege to in- ipect in Fremont. And more, a glance over their prices afforded ample assurance also that genuine articles at bottom figures were on every hand submitted. They boast not of sensation prices on any particular articles but the entire stock is brought to a minimum in price not to be met with elsewhere. Since first this intimation was published, up to the present, the demand upon them has certainly been large and remains so yet so extensive Was their stock that the impression made upon it thus far has apparently only partially re duced it and bargains of the rarest the most desirable and exceptional character may be still daily found upon their counters. The dry goods being the leading department of their business, it must not be presumed that in that line alone is the reduction made, but throughout the several branches in the house, and we give our readers the utmost assurance that a single visit will amply satisfy them, as it did us, our city never before offered a bet ter opportunity Of making unprecedented and genuine bargains. Markscheffel & Bro. to the Front. on of During our visitation to Toledo, last week, it was our privilege to be favored with an in. spection of the excellent business establish. ment ot the above firm located at 41 Summit street, with entrances also from 29 to 31 Hon roe street. The firm consists of Cabl and WrxHEUt MABtecHEFrEL, and the business was established so far back as 1855, the test of years having giveu it a very flattering standing in the confidence and patronage the public Originally founded on the corner of Summit and Ferry streets, np to 1862 the business was conducted in a somewhat limited retail way, but that year was removed to the present stand, where in 1863 an exclusive wholesale trade was adopted and has ever since prospered to a satisfactory degree. Their business now consists of being importers and jobbers of groceries, fruits, German produce, canned goods, pickles, sauces, fish, seeds and soup stuffs, foreign and do'mestio wines, liquors, spirits, ic, and a finer or better r " " rw" " ber seeing. The store is 25x90 feet, with three stories above ample cellar accommoda tion. On enterinj the store the private office is on the right, Mr. Ernst acting efficiently the capacity of chief clerk and cashier, while the principals of the firm hold themselves constant readiness to personally attend to requirement of their patrons. In our look over we were pnveleged with the courteous society of the leading member ot the whose extensive knowledge of the business and thorough acquaintance with the syste matic arrangement of the several departments afforded ample testimony to his efficiency commanding the entire run ot their extensive connection. - The first story or floor on which the office is located is literally packed sugars, coffees, teas, fruits, rice, cove oysters, cigars, etc. Chests, bags, case, bales boxes were the order on every hand stowed judiciously arranged and respectively accessible at a moment's notice. Among other thiugs represented by this firm we may mention canned vegetables and fruit of every description, jellies, potted fi'h and meats, cheese, pickles and sauces, prepared mustard, blueing, oils, biscuits, gro cers' dru?s, brushes, ammunition, fire works, paper, envelopes, wrapping paper, peucils, piper bags, candies, and grocers gener al small wares.
