TIIOS. S. MARK IS THE GENERAL AGENT OP THIS PAPER FOR COLLECTING SUBSCRIPTIONS, ADVERTISING, AC. SATURDAY MORNING, DEC. 2, 1854. BENEFIT OF MR. COWELL. The Theatre-goers, judging from the correspon dence in another column, are determined to give Mr. Cowkll a bumper at his benefit to-night. He has been a favorite with Nashville audiences for many years, and 'has worthily earned the high place he occupies as the favorite comedian. We do not believe there is a better actor, in his pecu liar line, in the country. Ic the private walks of life he is an estimable gentleman. For all this, and because he has now made Nashville his permanent home, we hope to see the Theatre crowded to night. And besides, all who look at the bill will see from it that there will be fun enough found at this benefit to put the most melancholy man in town in good humor for a year. MISS ANNETTE INCE. This accomplished young lady concluded a long engagement at the Theatre on Thursday night with the best house of the season. There is no question of her very superior capacity as an actress. She has been but a few months on the stage, and yet compares favorably, in all the characters she has : assumed, with those who have had as many years' experience asshehashad months'. Miss Ince, we believe, goes from here to Memphis. We com' mend her to the good offices of our brethren of the press of that city. THE BLAKELY FAMILY. The Blakely troupe gave their last concert in this city, on Thursday night Their concerts have been attended by large and fashionable au diences, and the opinion is universal that no simi lar troupe which has ever visited us equals this either in instrumental or Tocal melody. Mr. Hub bard, as a violinist, is a star of the first magnitude, and would by himself draw crowds to a concert. The selections of the company are from the highest range of music;, and altogether their concerts are among the most delightful to which we have ever listened. The Blakelys leave here for a short tour to Mur freesboro', Shelby ville, Fayetteville, Pulaski, Hunts ville, Winchester, Chattanooga, Cleaveland, Athens, and Knoxville, and will return by our city, again to delight the lovers of music here. To our readers in the towns named we beg to introduce the Blakelys as well merriting crowded houses No company which has ever visited those places can be at all compared with this. RiDnLEBORQEa'a Saloon. At the request of, and in company with, a friend, we called in at Mr. Rid dlebueoer's Eating House, on Cedar street, last evening, and were served with a most excellent tupper. Being'somewhat indposedat thotima, we did not eDjoy ita3 we would wish; yet it was a luxury even to look at the nice broiled venison steak, broiled partridges, broiled mutton chop3, oyster soup, hot cakes and tempting condiments, as they all sat together upon the well decorated table seemingly waiting patiently to be devoured. Long experience, together with a peculiar fit ness for the business, render Mr. Riddleburoek better able to give satisfaction to those who desire accommodations in his way than any man with whom we are acquainted. For our part, now that wc have fonnd the way, we promise ourself many a sumptuous meal during the approaching long winter nights. The Building Association ' said its funds last night at a premium of about 53 per cent; 55,400, netting about 11,300 a very good busi ness. Five forfeited shares sold at $4 per share per mium. (r W. On Wednesday evening the 9th tilt, by Rev. J. B. Ferguson, Lawrence BichaRD3on, of Louisville, Ky., to Miss Alice, daughter of James Walker, Esq., of Nashville. " And they are one forever and forever, In love and wisdom like a blended river Ol strength and beauty, whose remote extremes Are interfused, bound in tempered beams Of God's own brightness ; for the living zone Of God's own Spirit blends the two in one." Such an expelling agent has at last been found. Dr. M -Lane's Vermifuge proves to be the much sought aftor speci fic its efficacy being nniversally ackn owledged by the en tire medical faculty.
