MARK 13 THE GENERAL AGENT OF TUIS PAPER FOR COLLECTING SUBSCRIPTIONS, ADVERTISING, AC. SATURDAY MORNING. 1EC. 10, 1854. RIVER NEWS. (8EP0RTEB BY CAPT. H. It. HARRISON STEAMBOAT AOENT.) The river has swollen in all on the last rise some four itiehes. A t the present time there is 18 inches large on Ilarpcth Shoals, with every indication of rain. No boat passed Clarksville yesterday upward bound. Arrived yesterday, Umpire, Hughes, from Padu cab; with a heavy freight of Groceries from steamer .Aleona. Arrived same day, steamer A. L. Davis, from St. Louis, with shot, lead, sugar, crackers, lard'oil, &c. Shylock passed Eddyville on yesterday ladened for tliia port. Pittsbcro. River rising slowly, a general thaw 33 inches by metal mark. Ice still solid and navi gation suspended. Locisytixe. Weather moderating. .Kentucky river rising, 30 inches in channel to mouth of Ohio. Small boats annoyed by heavy and enduring fog, so much so ja to retard navigation. At this par ticular junction it is a great annoyance to all par ties concerned, the more especially so when it is considered that the freight accumulated for ship ment increases faster than there are means to stow it. The Cumberland river trade, too, has its draw backs, with fog, low water, and the Huntsville im peding the channel of Harpeth Shoals; but from present apparances we trust it will not long con tinue so. Miss Albertihe's Benefit. This young lady is as meritorious in private life as she is talented as an Artist, and on this night, when she has to speak that parting painful word " Farewell," we feel as sured she will witness, in the crowded state of tho Theatre, a tangible proof of the public's apprecia tion of her efforts. When we bahold beauty and talent on ths stage it is natural we should enquire further and desire to know something of the dispo sition of the person we patronize and caress, and it is gratifying to know, in this young lady's case, that a widowed mother and family are dependent upon her exertions, and that, young as she is, she has built a beautiful home for them on the banks of the'Hudson, and -within twentymiles of the city of New York. She has entitled herself to quote from Coleman and say, ' As daughter I from daughters ask support," and we shall be surprised if on this occasion we do not behold the Dress Circle graced with the youth and beauty of the city. See the Theatrical Advertisement for a most at tractive programme, and secure seats during the day to prevent disappointment at night, for the Theatre will certainly be crowded from dome to Parquette.
