The bid pro? poses an arch construction on steel ribs with a span of lls feet, and in? cludes construction across the island. Asphalt block paving is provided for the roadway, with reinforced concrete railing, provision for duets, and pipes, lamp posts and'trolley poles, the latter to he itt the centre of the roadway. Un 111 in ere I-'irms. Plans of C. B Clarke & Company, of Baltimore, were explained by Mr. Clarke. The company presented one bid of $179,100,' with certain extras. It proposes an arch rib construction, tho floor to bo supported by spandrel col? umns, with open spandrels, over the main arch. For the roadway on the bridge and across the island an item of $20,650 Is added to the bid. For the street railway tracks $10,800 Is added. Tho plans call for concrete railing, lamp posts and trolley posts, asphalt block paving, provision for ducts, gas and water mains. Plans of the McKay Engineering Company, of Baltimore were explained by Engineer w. Whitcomb. The company submitted one bid of $216,177 for an arch bridge with piers equi? distant. The construction across the island is an earth fill, the plans not showing whether It would be guarded from overflow by walls or riprapplng. Several optional forms of paving are offered, lamp posts and trolley poles provided, provision made for ducts, gas and water mains, and for concrete railing dwelled in spandrel walls. One Western Bidder. The last bidder beard was James Corse, of Racine. Wif., who marie four proposals?$22:.',4 70, 1215,080, $2U.S20. ?and $213,109?for a reinforced concrete girder bridge. Provision Is made for ? construction across the island and side approaches with retaining walls. Provision is made for gas and water mains, and space left for ducts. Lamp posts anil trolley posts are provided. The railway construction is included In the hid. Reinforced concrete railing is provided. Several of those who had submitted designs failed to respond when their names were called, but the committee decided that the public Hearing wa3 i concluded, and on next Monday night j will proceed to select the design which it will recommend to the Committee I on Streets for approval.
