A Kind Voice.
There is no power of love so hard t" <
get and to keep as a kind voice. AI
kind hand is deaf and dumb. It may '
be rough in flesh and blood, yet do the
work of a soft heart and do it with a
soft touch. But there is .no one thing
that love so much needs as a sweet
voice to tell what it means and feels,
and it is hard to get and keep it in the
right tone. One must start in youili
and be on the watch night and day, at
work and at play, to get and keen a
voice that shall speak at all times the
thoughts of a kind heart. It is often in
youth that oue gets a voice or a tone
that is sharp, and it sticks to him
through life and stirs up ill will and
grief and falls like a drop of gill on
the sweets of home. Watch it day by
day as a pearl of great price, for it will
be worth more to you in days to come
than the best pearl hid in the seas. A
kind voice is to the heart what light is
to the eye. It is a light that slugs as
well as shines. —Elihu Burritt.

Don't Talk of Your Health.
If you are not well don’t talk about
It.
To do so only exaggerates your con

it casts a shadow of gloom over other
people. They grow hesitant about ask
ing you bow you feel. It gives them
cold chills to be continually told that
you are “not very well’’ or “not so
well” or “about the same.”
Do you know that a good deal of
this is imagination? If you braced up
and told people cheerily that you felt

feel tiptop pretty soon. You’d forget
the ailing habit.
Don’t let yourself become a slave to
such a miserable little absorber of
health and happiness as the perpetual
habit of “not feeling well.”—Boston

Italian Country Dance.
In Italy when the country men and
women dance together the first thing
they do is to toss off their shoes, if they
wear any. A man does not go up to a
girl and ask if she will dance, but he
fixes his eye upon her from a distance
and nods. She nods in return, and
then both kick off their shoes, advance
toward each other and begin to dance.
