Fred Price arrived from Rhine-; lander Monday. Chas. Blohrn was down from Conover Tuesday. Peter Hedeen is a business vis itor from Conover. Mrs. Louis Denton was down from Rutnmeles Monday. Miss Edna Marett left for her home at Wausau yesterday. Air. and Mrs. Julius Diekman transacted business in town yes terday. C. E. Holmes ot Milwaukee is spending the week with his cous in, Dr. R. A. Woerfel. Mrs. L. W. Mauck of State Line was the guest of Miss Ger trude Stein Thursday. Harry Rilev returned to Win neconne Monday after spending two weeks with his cousin Frank Carter. Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Olson de parted for Appleton Friday after spending two weeks with friends in town. Burt Balke returned to Hack ley Friday having spent the week in the village taking the teachers’ exams. The Misses Mildred Madden and Ethel Swift left for their homes at Ashland and Odanah Friday having visited at the Erwin home on Meta lake for the past three weeks. Joseph Folev and family return ed from Florida Thursday after spending a vear in that state. Mr. Foley has come to the con clusion that Florida may be all right but he prefers Northern Wisconsin. Mr. Foley’s return gives proof to the fact that all the glowing terms in which that southern state is painted are in a large part the lure to entice settlers. Find Gill Net and Set Lines, y One large gill net and a bunch of set lines were taken from the waters of Pickerel lake (south of Big St. Germain) bv a crowd of fishermen last Thursdav. Evi dences were plain that there was still another net set in the outlet below the lake. The net and lines were turned over Friday to Game Warden Oberholtzer, who is now making an investigation. Mr. O’Connor (out of some eighty-odd shots) should be accredited with two dead birds instead of one, as was stated last week in the gun club article. And by the by the gun club has called for a competitive shoot at the club’s grounds Sunday after noon at 3 o’clock. Depucv Sheriff Art RadclifFe left for Sparta Tuesday to take the two Davis boys of Arbor Vitae to the st.-. te public school at that place. The two little fellows. Benjamin Franklin and Norman Charles, are bright appearing little chaps who give promise ot growing up into worthy men un der proper care. Their father is now serving a seven-year term in Waupun state prison for incest. ORDINANCE NO. I. An Ordinance to regulate motor boats within the village of Eagle River. The town board of the town of Eagle River do orda : n as follows: Section 1. ft shall be unlawful for the owner or operator of ativ boat propelled by steam, gasoline, naptha, electricity or in any other manner than by baud power, to operate or pro pel, or cause or allow to be operated or propelled, any such boat at a rate of speed exceeding six miles per hour upon that portioin’f Eagle River situ ated within the lilbits of the village of Eagle River, extending from a line drawn across said river at right angles to the boat house on the bank of said river known as Lacan’s boat house, to a line drawn across said river at right angles to the east end of ihe wharf extending up stream from the center pier of the bridge across said river on Railroad street. Section 2. It shall be .unlawful for the owner or operator of any boat pro pelled by steanl. gasoline, naptha, electricity, or im any other manner than by hand power, to operate 01 propel, or cause 'or\ allow to be oper ated or propelled. aVv such boat at a rate of speed exceeding four miles per hour upon that portion of Eagle River situated within the limits of the vil~ lage of Eagle River, extending from a line drawn at right angles to the east end of the wharf extending up stream from the center pier of the bridge across said river on Railroad street, to i t he western boundary of the right of way of the Chicago & Northwestern Railway Company where such right of way cresses said river. Section 8. Any person or persons who shall violate any of the provisions of this ordnance shall l>e punished bv a tine of not than five dollars (#5.00) nor more than ten dollars (#10.00). and : nv person convicted of a second or subsequent violation of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not less than ten nor more than twenty-five dollars. Harry Gillett left Chicago last Thursday evening with a party of about eighty lor his camp for boys at Savner, YVis. There will be one hundred incamp this sum mer. fifty of whom are boys and twelve teachers. The remainder are parents and adult friends. The body of Mike Mackie, who was drowned in Manuel lake near Hackley Sunday, was re covered 3'esterday afternoon. He was a single man employed by the Hackley-Phelps-Bonnell Co.
