Section foreman Newman and family spent the 4th at Gillett, Our brass band played at Carter on the 4th and at Laona in the evening. Charles Forestal of Mountain is visiting his friend Thomas Moore, Ervin Hemenway, one of Car ter’s properuus business men did business here to-day, Charley Scliirm is building a new barn on his farm west of town, Book-keeper St Johns of Car ter was seen on our streets yes terday, T. F. Moore has taken thd con tract for clearing the school site at Padus. Consideration #40.00. Landlord Boehm has purchas ed the Seymour saloon stand at Mountain and will locate there directly, Success; Mesdames Dickinson and Thomp son of tills place and Mrs. A. J. Johnson of Laona, are visiting their parents at Oconto. Miss Cournoyer, who has been visiting her friend Mrs. A. Dock Bennett returned from Clintonville yesterday. He re ports his wife able to be around again after a severe attack of rheumatism. Postmaster Busse of Reeds ville, came up with his lather-in law, F. F. Stelling,' Friday to spend the week fishing. Al. Richardson acted a9 guide for them. Mrs. T. A. Richardson and Miss. Susjie Richards served ice cream to the Sabbath school children at the Richardson resi dence Sunday. The youngsters report a good time. The fourth of July celebrations throughout the Northern part of state appears to have met with failures this year on account of the drenching rains during the entire day and evening, tvabeno didn’t celebrate, some of its peo going to Carter and others to Laona; both these places cele brated and considering the un favorable circumstances our peo ple report having enjoyed them selves quite well, Notice. Sir; We respectfully request you to call a meeting of the County Board of Supervisors of Forest county to be held at the court house in the village of Crandon on Tuesday, May 21, 1901 at 2 p. m. for the purposq/of organizing and transacting aucli business as may be brought before said board. Peter Hoffman who was elected Countv Survev nr of y Forest county, failed to file his official bond according to the vision of Section 765, we the Su pervisors of the county of Forest, do declare said office vacant. Whereas, the uffie of Surveyor in Forest county has by the coun ty board of Forest county been declared vacant, and whereas a vacancy exists in said office, we the Supervisors of the county board of Forest county, do desig nate and appoint Peter Hoffman to hold said office until the expira tion offitho present term and until his successor shall be elected and qualified. The bills filed with the county board were referred to the Fi nance committee. Mr. Wyman appeared before the board in the matter of Lakeside Park Addi tion to the village of Three Lakes and the sale of said plat was dis missed and the follow i ag resolut ion was adopted. Resolved, That the chairman and clerk be and they hereby are authorized to receive sealed bids up to noon May 27, A. D. 1901 reserving the right to accept or reject any or all such bids, for the title that Forest county holds to the plat of Lakeside Park Ad ition to the village of Three Lakes and to the First Addition to Lake side Park Addition, and further, that the clerk be instructed to is sue a tax deed ori all tax certifi cates given with said deed and without fees, if irt the judgement of said chairman and elerk it wou’d be for the best interest of the county. Ail members present, The following resolutions were adopted. All members voting “aye.” whereas, M. L Boland, who was elected Justice of the Peace and Geo. Marshall, who was elect ed constable, in and for said town, failed to file their.official bonds according to the provision of Sec tions 846 and H4L respectively, we the Supervisors of the Town wabeno do hereby declare said offices vacant. John McGuire, F. O. Busch, j, , Ernest Martin, whereas the offices of Justice of the Peace and Constable, in the Town of wabeno, have by the Supervisors of said town been declared yacrnt and whereas a vacancy exists in said offices, we the Supervisors of the Town of wabeno, do designate and appoint M. L. Boland, as Justice of the Peace, ana Christ Gaultier, us constable, to hold said offices, re spectively, until the expiration of the present terms and until their successors shall be elected and qualified.
