FORD NEARS OUTPUT OF 5000 A DAY Dealer* Call For 194,750 Cara, Tracks and Tractors For Jane Ford dealers in the United States have asked for a total of 193,750 Ford Cars, tracks and tractors to meet their June requirements, says a statement issued by the Ford Motor Company, Detroit, Michigan. Asa result the estimated output for June has been boosted to 140,000, which is an increase of 10,000 over the pres ent month, and of course, will set up a new high record, in spite of the fact that the May output will show a sub stantial increase over the previous highest month. Ford sales have been constantly in creasing since the first of the year, the demand growing during the past two months faster than it has been possible to increase production. Monday, May 16th, brought forth a new record of cars built for one day, the figures reaching 4878 at the close of the day’s work. This was an in crease of 16 over May 15th, when the previous high mark was established. On May 18th the six millionth Ford motor was assembled. Number five million came off the line May 28th, 1821. Ford officials state that every attem pt is being made to build a sufficient number of cars and trucks to fill the retail requirements of their 8,000 deal ers. MILK FACTS For the young, milk is a perfect food. For the adult it is valuable as a supple ment to the ordinary diet. By its liber al use the diet is made complete so that the greatest efficiency and well being of the individual result. Milk is not a beverage like tea or coffee; it carries important food con stituents. In energy content alone ”a quart of milk is approximately equal to a pound of lean steak or eight eggs. Milk contains superior proteins in contrast to wheat, corn, rice and po tatoes. Whether it is used in the form of whole milk, skimmed milk, butter milk, or even whey, or as the import ant product eheese, milk furnishes a protein which seems to be just what the body needs. makes good the mineral defic iencies in the diet. Grains and potat oes are notoriously|poor in their content chlorine, calcium and sodium but milk makes ub this deficiency in a:n excell ent manner. Milk also contains vitamine B and vitamine C in addition to vitamine A. These vitamines are botk indispensable to life. The use of “filled milk” for infant feeding is intolerable and should be prohibited by law. Whole milk contains vitamine A .in 'large amount* while “filled milk” does not. Without vita mine A an animal cannot live; lack of it results in early cessation of growth, inflamed eyes, pnemonia, and then death. Vrtamines A and B are not easily de stroyed by heat. Milk, therefore, can be pasturized, sterilized, and dried without affecting them. It is not safe to use any processed milk for infant feeding for long per iods of time without supplementing it with an efficient antiscorbutic such as orange juice or tomato juice. This is necessary because vitamine 0 is easily affected by heat treatment. Whole milk is a great factor of safe ty in the diet. It should therefore be used liberally both as an article of food by itself and in cookery.
