' TWENTY-FOURTH YEAR HOW TO SAVE ON CLINCHER TIRES • THE one sure way to save money on tires is to buy the tire which has the greatest possible value built into it and then get that value out. The tire made cheaDly to sell at a low paice, and sold without service behind it, cannot meet these specifications. The fact that “More People Ride on Goodyear Tires than on any other Kind,” is due largely to one thing. Instead of building tires as cheaply as it an, Goodyear builds them as Good as it can, putting into them all possible value. WABENO HARDWARE CO. WABENO. JUNE 30. 1922 Picric Acid Now Available ‘•Picric Acid is available to the farm ers of Forest County”, says Lee -Stewart who has been hired by the agiicultural committee a.3 County Agricultural A gent. Mr. Stewart began work in the county Monday June 19th. This material is a war salvaged ex plosiveandis being distributed at cost by the College of Agriculture of the U niversity of Wisconsin in cooperation with the United States Bureau of Mines. This material is part of that which was stored at Fort Wingate, New Mex ico, and had formerly been alloted to the Southern States. Due to their lack of land clearing organization such as Wisconsin has, very little of this mat erial was distributed. Asa result, Wis consin has been-given another chance to secure this material. The material comes in cartridge form the same as dynamite It is put up in 100 pound boxes the same as last year and runs about two hundred and sev enty-five sticks to the hundred pounds. It will cost 1i.7 cents per pound deliv ered to one point in the county. Unless material is called for and taken from the car at time of arrival, storage or local frieght to other point* in the county will have to be paid in addition. Order blanks will be sent out to ev ery farmer in the county. Anyone who does not receive one of these blanks can secure one by writing to, or call ing at the county agent’s office, at Crandon The limit on picric acid has been fixed at two hundred pounds per mau. All orders must be accompanied by money order or check made out to Lee Stewart, County Agent. They will be filled in the order in which they are received. Picric acid is an economical explosive. Every hundred pounds that Forest County farmers purchase means a sav ing of Nine Dollars when prices aud relative strengths are taken into consid eration. It is an opportunity that should be taken advantage of. ‘‘The weak stave in the Bucket of Prosperity of Forest County is Cleared Land”, says John Swenehart at a meet ing of the Forest County Development Association Monday evening, June 19. W cannot increase the prosperity of Forest County un*il tins stave is length ened. No chain is stronger than its weakest link. As never before, farm ing has resolved itself into a science, the application of sound business prin ciples. Forest County needs more clear ed land Picric acid is available. Let’s take advantage of it. TRUMP LAKE A. isABELLe Gibbons When the winter time hangs heavy, And my soul seems tired out, And my nerves are taut and ragged And my temper wants to shout, Why I snatch a golden moment And I dream a golden dream, I am back again and angling Where the fishes dart and gleam: In a lake of many beauties, Loved by pines and cedars bold, Where the birches and the balsams Whisper tales of love so old. I am back again with fish rod In my hands, and dozy like When I hear a sudden splashing And I’m greeted by a Pike; Man! a great big northern wall-eye Grabs the hook and I draw in And he smiles appreciation As he flags his candal fin; Then he says, “you’re welcome sports man, To the fish you wish to take, For we’re here to serve good anglers, That's the Code of old Trump Lake.” Just one moment of day dreaming, Yet it helps to pass the time That is filled with work and worry And to image the sublime; For those visions of the cedars And the pines and balsams sweet Calling to me from the distance, Holding forth their wonderous treat, Give me courage to press onward, And a greater effort make, When I know I’ll soon be angling In the waters of Trump Lake.
