It may be well to state here that the Central Highway ?is to extend from Beaufort on the coast to Paint Rook on the Tennessee line, and therefore traverses the entire length of the State going through 19 connties. Dr. Pratt followed M'. Varner in an able address showing the good that would result by the building of this road, not only to the neighbor hood through which, it may pass but to the entire State in -bringing home seekers to our- midst as well as tourists, and io inspiring all teo tions to build good roads. in response to request Hon. W. G: Brambam, ot Durham, presented in a very able manuer Hillsboro's claim to this route, and spoke with authority of Durham's interest and purpose to assist in the wo'k'pro vided the Hilisboro route was se lected.
