All we have to say to them is bark on. you pups, and when you get thro' go to your kennels, and rest yourselves for another tour. tSTOn our first page will bo found Mr. HaIc's letter, in which he declines being a candidate for the Presidency, and the Plat form adopted by tho Free Soil Convention. We publish these important documents for the benefit of some half dozen Fr?e Soil ers in this county who are patrons of our paper-; and also as a part of the current news of the day. JtSTThe Manegeries and Circus adverti sed in nnothcr column, are all they are rep resented to bo. We learn from our exohan ges that they have given general satisfaction vherever they have performed, and we be lieve they will do tho same in Cadiz and Moorefield. Tho boys will save their quar ters of course, BUT-It is nqt worth while for Senator Pep pard to reply to, any article that contradicts itself as plainly, ns tho one headed "Facts for the People" docs, which, appeared in the last Republican. Richard, when you wish htm to reply to anything that appears in your columns, you must publish something that looks a little like truth; not such a rncsfi t)f falsehoods as that which appears under 1,11c head of "Pacts for the People," in your last jiuper, Ihe Markets. That excellent paper, the Pittsburgh Post, put of which we take our market reports, failed to come to hand this week, which will account for their non-nppearanco. In look ing over our other exchanges, wo find that th.cro.bus b.i)eq no material ch.tngs, Wm. Fulton, Jr. This riciithmaH (?) occupies a'jout a col umn and a (juarter of the last Republican in trying to reply to our article in respect to his diity work. He makes a great fuss. Dab bles in law, scripture, and gives vent to the lowest kind of blackguardism, in which lie tries to sejeen himself from tho dirty work that he has lately been guilty of doing. He commences by publishing garbled ex tracts of our article, and then gives garbled extracts of tho post office laws; parts of the law that just suits his own side of the ques tion. After tho law, then comes some of the lowest specimens of blackguardism that has been published in that paper for a long time, and that is saying a great deal. For us to undertake to reply to his slang, would be putting oursclf on a level with the gentleman (?) that holds the little petty of fice of postmaster, and keeps a picayune store in Tippecanoe. Those that know us, will know what he says about us is a lie; and those that do not, will think none the less of us for anything he might say against or about us. His version of the post office law is all balderdash. There is not a publisher of a newsp iper in the Union but has sent papers of his own publication to postmasters for the purpose of getting them to circulate them a" mong the people of their respective neigh borhoods. And we will venture to say that this William Fulton, Jr., is the first man that ever returned them. And he only done so for the want of principle, and because it was a paper that did not agree with him in political senumcni. We should not have troubled this man with any cx'ra papers, had he not have told us to do so, on the Saturday before the last October election; and he also told us on the same day, that he would do all he could for us; and his article in the Republican shows what kind of a man he is to be believed. We are very much obliged to yqu, Mr. Ful ton, for the favors that yon have done far us, ind hope that you will continue on in your labor of love. If any of the readers of the Republican keep a scrap book, we would advise them to cut out Mr. Fulton's article and paste it therein, so that in after generations the peo ple will have the benefit of one of the dirti est communications that ever appeared in print. ifi?Don't fail to read the correspondence of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, giving an ac count of the Pittsburgh Convention. It re veals some things which looks rather dishon orable. New Mail Routcx The following note from the lion. J. Ca- ij0 to the Carroll ton Picayune, will be read with interest by our numerous readers.
