S.' SEEKING SCOFIELD'S RELEASE Reported That Minot Citizens Will Try tn Per suade Judge to Suspend Sentence. It is reported around the federal build-" ing today that large delegation of in fluential Minot citizens will visit Fargo tomorrow with a yiew of interceding on behalf of Sheriff, Scofield, who is Con fined in the Cass County jail under sen tence of the federal court for tampering with a juror. It is the intention of the visitors'/ so ihe report says, to attempt to persuade Judge Aniidon to suspend the greater portion of the sentence, so that the' im prisoned official may spend Christmas with his family in his home town., Ihe general local opinion is that the sheriff's^ friends are doing more to blight his chances for early release than to as sist him. The sentence, or rather the commitment, contains a provision mak ing it possible for the judge.,to order the prisoner's release at,.any time he may see fit, the maximum penalty being fixed at ninety days. From the nature of ihe xoniinitmeii tj|barcoicKu'Sion i^ reach ed, that judgt„Ainidou did not iqteud to to confine Scoficld for the full maximum period, but the court is human and thre^tftv might proy^.-'very disastrous to t,he War4 County official just- ft ^is tiitiS. When I was a boy all boys of generous spirit looked up to her. In these days the women have come down to our level, they were womanly and now they are ctasiug to be'. Nowadays they talk like men and do all things that men do. If there Wanything.- thit? men despise it is a mannish woman. All this comes from leaving the wo manly things #of life arid invading the sphere of men.
