Olson, mem bers of the borad of county commis sioners, arrived in our town on the morning train in last Thursday and went out to Watson township to look after some bridges and other country work. They are a pleasant set af fellows. The Leonard school board mat at UM Seelig hotel on Wednesday evening to arrange for improvements to be made In compliance with the result of the special election held on June 16. Con tracts will be let at once for the plast ering and woodwork, as the work must be completed In time for the next ses sion of school in September. The First state bank building la re ceiving a coat of paint outside which improves its appearance. Miss Marie Nelson, daughter of Gil bert Nelson, living on the Sheyenne seven miles southwest of here, arrived In Leonard on Friday morning from Minneapolis, where she bas been em ployed in an office since last Septem ber. Lars Severson and niece from Silver Prairrie came to town on Friday last and left on the evening train for Min nesota, where they will visit for some time. Mrs. A. E. Fraedench returned from Fargo on Thursday morning where she has been for ten days having some dentistry work done. The result of which makes her handsomer than ever. A. B. jus tad and son shipped two car loads of cattle and hoge from this station on Saturday last, and Her man Hener shipped one car. Where the stock comes from is a mystery, but it brings a lot of money into the country. Henry Ihmia and sister Mrs. Clara Colvey, were in Leonard on Saturday shopping. Albert Porter and Fred Barr and wife Mae went to Fargo on Saturday evening in Albert's auto, returning on Monday. Regular services were held in the M. E. church on Sunday, Pastor Lanie in charge. The pastor led the Ep worth league and made it interesting. H. O. Mamies, our genial station agent, made his weekly journey to Kindred on Sunday. There seems to be an attractive force that draws him in that direction. Lee Vale came into Leonard about 9:30 Sunday evening on his motor cycle, having left Grand Forks at 2:30 p. m. That Is going some. He went out to Sheldon on Monday evening. H. L. Mattson, former station agent here, and his wife, nee Alice Koss, with a bright new baby came to Leonard on Saturday evening. Alice wil visit a few days with relatives and friends, while Ray is pursuing his occupation of station inspector. The stork brought a new boy to the home o-" Henry F. Smith at Gans on the morning of June 17. All con cerned are doing well. Mrs. Smith and daughter Olive of Helendale township were passengers to Fargo on Saturday morning. A. B. Fischer and family left here on Monday evening's train for Here ford, Col., where they will make their future home. They will go to St. Paul and take the river route, which will be very pleasant this time of the year. Andrew Anderson of Helendale town ship went to Farge on Monday eve ning on business and pleasure com bined and will extend his trip to Chic asaro county, Iowa, to visit some old acquaintances he has not seen for sev eral years. Mrs. Ihma came in from the farm on Monday to do some shopping and visit her daughter, Landlady Seelig. Tour scribe visited the handsome home and fine grounds of Henry Boos on Monday last. He is laying cement walks around the house and will soon have the grounds in excellent condi tion. The inside of the house is fin ished in the old colonial style of arch itecture in oak. The upper rooms being handsomely painted in colors. The lower rooms are papered, an ex cellent basement is supplied with a furnace, which heats the whole bouse and with bath rooms and closets, he and his good wife can pass their years in comfort. E. C. Arnold is placing some new and hadsotne show cases and counters in his new store, and when he com pletes the removal will have an up to-date establishment. There will be a triple wedding at the residence of August Johnson, five miles northwest of here In the near future. A splendid wedding supper will be served at 4 o'clock p. m.
