BRATTON'S TRIAL SET FOR SlAiiUi PUGILIST WHO FACES WHITE SLAVERY CHARGE IN WINNI PEG WILL BE TRIED IN MARCH —EDNA PIERCE OF FARGO ONE OF THE ALLEGED VICTIM8. A dispatch received this morning from Winnipeg states that the trial of Jack Bratton, the pugilist who faces a charge of white slavery, will be set for a date early March. The mes sage indicates that Bratton had the preference of having an Immediate trial or could defer the hearing until a later term of court. It is under stood he at first decided to have the matter over with, but later concluded to wait Bratton's alleged victims were Edna Pierce, of Fargo, daughter of L. S. Pierce of this city, and her cousin, Maud Pierce of Bagley, but formerly of Crookston. Bratton left with the two girls for the northwest, and was traced to Calgary, Alta.. from which point they were brought to Winnipeg. Just what Ftcps have been taken to ward his defense has not been made known. All that has been given out at present is that Bratton has concluded to wait to stand trial at the March assizes. COURT SESSION OF FEDERAL COURT WILL BE HELD JAN. 10 AND CONTINUE UNTIL ALL CASES ARE HEARD—WILL CALL PETIT JURY, Beginning the second Tuesday of the year, Jan. 10, the January term of the United States court will continue until all cases on the docket are heard. T.h# federal building will be a lively place again for a few weeks, when the cor ridors and offices of the United States marshal, United States attorney, cleric of court and court chambers will bi crowded with witnesses waiting to b* called to the stand. Only the civil cases oh the docket will be heard during the January term, though just how many there are ha» not yet been given out, as calendar haj not been issued by the clerk of court's office. A petit jury -will sit In all the cases and the Jurors will be summoned to appear immediately after the first of the year. There will be no call for the federal grand jury.
