A Joke on the Fishermen.
Wide World Magasine: The watera
of the Great Salt lake, TJtah, are the
most heavily impregnated with salt of
any large body of water in the world,
save perhaps the Dead sea, in Tales
tine. No life exlata in the lake except
a diminutive form of shrimp, rever
exceding one-third in in length. Resi
dents of Utah are thoroughly familiar
with this fuct, and frequently tlay
pranks on visitors to the city who have
not learned the mysteries of the Great
Salt lake. Some time ago the Amal
gamated Association of Street and
Electrical Car Workers of America,
held their convention in Salt Lake City,
and local members of the organization
induced a number of distinguished
vinitors to "go fishing" In the Great
Salt lake. After casting their lines
most dexteriously for nearly on hour
and cursing their ill-luck in net get
ting a "rise," the victims were told of
th© joke.
