Senator Hansbrough took an active interest in the matter on be half of the wool growers, in co-operation with Senator Foraker, and the com mittee agreed to report against the i-atifi cation of the treaty. Postmaster Smith of Griswold, La Moure county says that the committee to collect subscriptions for free right of way for the Soo has received between |8,000 and $9,000, leaving three townships not heard from and if the Soo means business he thinks it will be an easy matter to collect $2,000 to $3,000 more in his neighborhood. Pardon Issued by Beckham Recognized by Kentucky's State Warden. FRANKFORT, Ky., Feb. 17.—The clash between the Democratic and Repub lican branches of the state government was emphasized during the day by the prison officials releasing John Seals, a Louisville convict, on a pardon issued by Governor Beckham. Deputy War den Punch was acting warden and when the pardon papers were presented to him he ordered Seals' release.
