after the play. The ladies all had a
pleasant afternoon. This is the third

TO OPEN MONDAY.
The new laundry to be managed by
Halverson and Reade, in the room
formerly occupied by Goughnor's see
on hand store, will open net Monday.
Mr. Halverson Is an experienced
laundry man, having been in the busi
ness over twelve years, and will have
charge of the new enterprise.
Henry L. Reade Is too well known
to need an introduction.
These people are going to make a
specialty of the finer work and will
try to render a superior service.
A 8AD ERRAND.
Representative Thomas Hughes re
turned from Bellville, Ontario, Friday
noon, whither toe had gone with the
remains of Raymond Hughes, his
nephew, recently deceased. The
young man was well known in Bis
marck, having worked for the Merch
ant's State bank, and died at Fargo
while on his way home to Bellville
to visit his parents. He was ill only
twenty-four hours and the physicians
gave the cause of his death as perni
cious anemia.
CATHOLIC FAIR NOT FINISHED.
Owing to the urgent request of
many people who were not able to at
tend the CathoHc fair because of prev
ious engagements, the ladles will have
an extra evening next Tuesday to
finish up the successful fair they have
been holding. There are some fancy
articles and some useful ones left.
The best are not all gone. The con
tests will then be closed and
announced at that date. A light lunch
will be served and a general good
time enjoyed. The only matter that
was closed up was the awarding of
the clock that was' being contested for
to Matt Johnson. Do not forget the
date, February 23.
METHODISTS GROWING.
Sunt. S. A. Danford tells of some old
time revivals over the state, nota
bly at Wheatland and Absaraka, where
upwards of two hundred have been
converted and ninety persons have
joined the church. Revivals with from
ten to fifty converts have been- held
or are now in progress at Tower City,
Milnor, Lidgerwood, Ellendale, Berlin,
Spiritwood, Jamestown, Sheldon, Dick
ey, Elliott, Hurdsfield, Valley City and
Casselton. Other points are planning
revivals for early spring or summer)
Mr. Danfords says the revival spirit
is more general on his district this
year than ever before and that the
increase in -membership that will fol
low will he the greatest in the history
of North Dakota Methodism.

A PULPIT SET.
Yesterday afternoon at a meeting of
the official board of the McCabe Meth
odist Episcopal church Rev. Magdn,
the pastor, announced that Mrs. D. T.
Davis, mother of Senator Davis, had
made a donation *o the new church
of "a pulpit set," which will he made
of quarter-sawed oak with' leather
cushions. They are to be in harmony
with the new pews which were or
dered about three veeks ago. '"Mrs.
Davis has been a life-long Methodist
and the pulpit set is given as^ a me
morial to her husband, D. T. 'Davis,
who was a member of the state"senate
ten years ago and who died since. He
was a faithful member of the Metho
dist'church until his death. The offi
cial board of tfee McCabe church has
extended a vote of thanks to Mrs.
Davis for her beautiful gift.
