Sixty house bills remained on the
senate desk on the last night of the
session and a steering committee was
aacned to select the bills deemed most
important for passage. A large number
•f measures died in the committee,
there being not time enough to consider
them before the end 6T the session. The
legislature added two hundred or more
•ew laws to the statutes of the state,
hot little in the way of constructive
'legislation except the board of control
lOL After fighting for the McArthur
.BiD all through the session, in order
to get drug permits abolished and .place
the sale of liquor in the hands of phy
sicians on prescriptions, the druggists
of the state were outgeneraled by the
prohibitionists on the last day and,the
IfcCrea bill, which was once killed in
the senate, was resurrected and passed.
This'bill continues the druggists' permit
system, but places the issuance of them
the hands of the district instead^of
the county court
•The session adjourned without pa'ss
iog the anti-pass law. There was a
good deal of anti-pass talk and very
little real anti-pass sentiment when it
came to a show-down in both houses.
The house passed an anti-pass bill that
to the senate and the railroad
iiittee of the senate debated the

of the matter, and there was little feel
ing that an anti-pass law had not been

pass fight has been before the legisla
ture for two sessions, but the law is
apparently no nearer the statute books
than it was before,
With respect to the bill for the trans
fer of cash balances from the state
twine plant to the state treasurer, re
ferred to in the report of the investi
gating committee as/having been intro
duced by Senator Little, it may be well
to state that this bill passed by a vote
•f 36 to 0 in the senate and 89 to 1 in
Ihe- house. If it was a "vicious" meas
ure it seems strange that the legisla
ture should unanimously have passed it
lb h. the fact that the transfer of bal
ances-of $10,000, as originally provided
for before this bill was passed, was a
physical impossibility during a season
