BISMARCK EVENING TRIBUNK
THE KNIGHT OF TODAY
Oh, the knights- of old were heroes
bold
And valiant men, I know
In armor drest with plumed drest ..
They wielded lance, and bow.*
And ladies fair beyond compare
Of gentle modest mien
Were to them real, thro voe or: weal
'Twas' "the Golden Age," I ween!
But sad the plight of that armored
knight,
Should ne wake to war once more
Methinks he would speed on Ills
startled steed
Afar from the cannon's roar.
His lance he would shiver, discard
bow and quiver,
Then away to his castle tower
While the leaden hail on his coat 01
mail
Those who have nof secured

Would fall swift as summer shower.
Then the knights of today would
shout "Hey, Reub, Hey!"

For modern boys are used to noise
And care not an ace for such

More worthy are they of poets' lay

For war today is no child's play
A "knight" of today earns glory.
