AIR POLICIES ASSAILED IN MITCHELL CASE Tresentalion or Evidence Is Delayed by Objections of Prosecution Washington, Nov. 10.—OP)— The government’s air policies, both at home and in far-off American posses sions, were assailed today in defense testimony before the Mitchell court martial. Captain Robert Oidys of the air service, called to support Colonel Mitchell’s charge of near treasonable disregard of national interest in aviation, declared he had in his pos session a letter written by the Amer ican minister to Guatemala in 1923, warning of a scheme by "alien in terests ’ to establish a foothold in central America near the Panama canal. The minister, the witness said, un successfully urged the Washington government to establish an air mail service to central America. Actual presentation of the letter in evidence was delayed, temporarily at least, by objections from the prosecution. Quotes From Report Capt. Oldys also quoted at length from the aviation report presented in 1922 by the Lassiter board of army officers, containing recommendations for air defense of the Philippines and Hawaii, which the witness said had been approved by the secretary of war but never carried into effect. This report, he said, described the situation in the air service as ‘‘un fortunate and critical.” Captain Oldys then told the court that while he was stationed in Hawaii there were so many forced landing and airplane smashes that there was a threat to hold pilots finan daily re- FREE TO ASTHMA SUFFERERS Free Trial of a Method That Anyone Can Use Without Discomfort or Loss of Time. This building was erect ed by student labor employed by the school, and the bricklaying was done by four young men who attended the school for bricklayers held during the winter of 1925. The structure is an. attractive type of modern industrial building, 40’.v82’, one story, 12’ side walls with self-supporting roof which leaves the entire floor clear. Large steel sash windows let in plenty of light from outside and permit of easy ventilation. This building was com pleted with plumbing and heating in stalled, at tin* very low cost of ap proximately $7000.00. This low cost was made possible by using student apprentice labor, which made a de cided saving to the state as well as offering student apprentices excel lent practice. 1500 Square Feel of Floor Space The trade department at the Science School now covers over 1500 square feet of floor space. Most of this room is in the trade building group, to which the new building adds 50 per cent more space. The increase in the enrollment in the classes in auto mechanics, plumbing and bricklaying made the erection of this now build ing imperative to prevent congestion of classes, which had become quite severe during the winter months, when the dull season courses are held. The entire trade building group is composed of three buildings connect ed by corridors, and covering over 900 square feet. These are all one s4ory buildings.
