A VISION ARY SCHEME.
OoTernor Waite, of Colorado,
who gave himself a notorious rep
utation ty declaring for "blood to
the bridlas," ia again before the
public announcing that the free
coinage of silver shall be the law
of hia state. Ha at&tes officially
that arrangements hare been made
whereby he will coin for the state,
independent of the national gov
ernment, all the silver product of
Colorado. In speakirg of the
scheme, the Fort Worth Mail has
this to 6ty :
Governor Waite'e scheme to have
Colorado silver coined in Mexico,
the Cuiu to bear the Mexican and
the Colorado Coat of arms, ie a des
perate makeshift of the mine own
er to unload a depreciated metal
on their own people that cannot
win. It would have nothing but a
bullion value, and it is hardly
probable that even a Colorado
bank would accept it as anything
but bullion. Even phould the
scheme materialize, the only thing
that it would really show would be
the actual difference between a
good and a bad dollar.
I'bksideut 'Cleveland, the pa
triot and &tatetmau, concludes bis
messageto congreea in unmintak
able languag; which shows his
position toward the ma.-ees. He
says: "In.cocclusion, my intense
feeling of responsibility impels me
to invoke for the manifold inter
est of a numerous and confiding
pe- pie the m scrupulous care,
and to pledge my willing BUpport
to every legielatire effort for the
advancement of the greatness and
prosperity of our beloved Country."
In announcing the assignment
of Mitchell & Co. at Wynnewood?
the Republic, of that place, usually
a moat reliable paper, falls by the
wayeide by asserting as the cause
a failure to collect couyled with
the repeal of the McKinley bill.
Whats the matter Bro. Linn?
When was the McKinley bill re
pealed! We were not aware that
it hadmet the fate it deserved and
which surely awaits it at an. early

with the life and bustle exhibited, and
on being informed that it was a dull

What a pity moonlight nights
can not be made to serve the pur
pose of lighting the etrerts of
Ardmore. Bat under the existing
natural laws we presume it would
hardly be a practical idea to sug
gest to the man in that beautiful
orb a revolution in its goiDgs and
comings. Oae thing, though, when
the skies are unclouded and fair
Luna is at her beat, we don't need
any better light. That is some con
solati n.
The Akdmcriitk is thankful
fr the patronage given by our
people but we would like more in
the same line' from those who are
interested in Ardmore's welfare.
It is the progressive cot the
"psnny wise and pound foolibh"
element to which we appeal.
Doh't frget that Ardmore needs
municipal government, street im
provements, electric light?, a srs
tem of waterworks and a fire department-
These are essentials,
the pull backs to the contrary
notwithstanding.
