The spec cial train arrived here a few min utes ahtad of schedule time. A committee of citizens headed by Sidny Suggs met them at the depot and accompanied them to the United States court house. The crowd was snfllcient to comfortably fill tbe court house. Mr. Suggs called the house to onler and in the name of the mayor of Ardmore bade the visitors n hearty welcome Mr. Fnrman was introduced and in a short speech replete with this gentleman's logic aud wit completely captnred the visitors. After giving expressions of pleasure afforded Ardmore at the opportunity of entertaining the club, and expressing hopes that the closest intimacy may ex ist between the people of this country and the business men of Kansas City, be told of Ardmore'a resources and how their full devel opment is hindered by need of na tional legislation. Mr. Fnrman was cheered almost incessantly. Recognizing tbe Kansas City Com mercial club as- one of tbe strong est commercial organizations in America, Mr. Fnrmau did not fail to appeal to them to exert their in tluence at nshiugton in our be half. The appeal was couched in strong well chosen language and orovoked expressions of sympathy from the visitors. Mr. Fnrman was followed by t speech from C. J. Schmelzer, pres ident of the club, in which that gentleman said theirs was an ag gregation of business men and not of speech makers. He expressed pleasure and surprise at.our growth and requested that our people make n formal appeal to their club for needed legislation, assuring us that tbe matter should receive its share of careful and immediate at tention. In response to repeated calls, Col. J. G. Stowe, consul gen' eral of the United States to Cape town, took the speaker's stand. Col. Stowe's remarks were brimfull of wit and were listened to atten lively. He snid he did not expect to find Ardmore a town of so much importance aud that the long walk through town to the court house had given him a feeling of fatigue following Col. Stephens' speech n general handshaking nnd forming of acquaintances was renewed for a few minutes while the Ardmore orchestra did themselves and the town credit in furnishing music. The stay at the court house was not lonir, for tho club had but one hour and forty-five minutes to re main here. They were accompanied to the train by a "number of citizens and departed for Gainesville on schedule timo. The busiuess men who failed to attend the meeting missid a treat. Ou this as on other occasions Ardmore proved herself fully equal to the occasion. The story goes that the St. Louis club in their itineracy took up the time iu riding over the towns iu carriages, while the Kansas Citynus consumed the time in mixing and mingling with the business men. While tho club is having a so cial time, no pleasures are allowed to interfere with business. To Cure Malaria In 4 Dart, Tako Qulnorla.
