SldneV Suggs, the proprietor r.nd publlahcr of the Ardmoreite. who bv the way is thoroughly In sympathy with union labor, unhesitatingly sign ed the contract of the Typographical Union at this place. All the other printing establishments In the city ' doing likewise, thus Ardmore is strict- j Iv a Union ctty. In every city in the United Stales today the establishment , of the eight-hour day becomes effee- j five under the direction of the Inter-1 national Typographical Union or fall- j Ins this a walkout of the printers Is In order. It Is commendable to note however that In the larger cltltes es pecially the new order of things Is be ing etiniplled with,' fhus virtually end-. lng tjie strike before it is inauRumted. i The otnlqpk for organisation during the coming1 year Is bright. CommentujgTJiore'ori "Secretary Mor rlson of the American Federation of Ijibor says "The coming yenr will witness tho establishment of a universal eight hour day for the members of tho In ternational Typographical Union, do splto the resistance of omployers. !u divldualty and collectively, backed by the Typothetae nnd other hostile or-rnil7-if Ions t-rogress can not for all time bo held back by tho power and In fluence exerciser! by the few. The eight-hour day Is now being enjoyed by many crafts, and the printers, a part of the army of organized labor, hnve. of their own volition and Initia tion, Instructed their officers to bid them advance and take poaseasion if the new conditions Jan. 1, 190G. The employing printers, for tactful rea sons of their own, forced tho fight prior to the date arrangod for by tho printers. "Their attack was resisted. Tho fight lg on. The printers havo an Im pregnable position. Vlctorj- Is theirs, even if delayed beyond tho time that omployers realize that further resis tance Is useless. "One by one tho obstacles, that are being used to Impede the progress of the unions In tholr steady advanc-? have been swept away nnd orusbed aside, and the American FflderatlDi'. of Labor continues to grow in strength nnd power for good. Tho outlook for organization during tho coming yoar was never better. Yoar by yoar or ganlzed labor rings out tho old con ditions and rings In tho now nnd bit tr conditions. That has been tho history of tho past, and unquestion ably will be the history of tho future. Mrs. Emma Williams has resigned h"r position In the drug store at Cor nish and roturned to Ardmoro to re side Through tho derailment of a box car cu tho Frisco yesterday tho east bound train was delayed two or three hours. The morning train duo hero nt 9 o'clock did not arrive until about one. Tho car was derailed in the yp.rds In north Ardmore. Republicans Uo a Tree. Tomorrow itho republican aro cxpecb lng that President Roosevelt will name a district ittornoy for the Southern district. Tho candidacies of tho various applicants for the placo havo boon of sufficient interest to arouse public Interest nnd naturally everyone Is awaiting results with kepn expectancy. Tho flgnt has been without personal abuse and tho can. dates havo been active In filing charges against each other. Tho fact that So per has withdrawn his endorsement for the offlco has only served to In crease tho complication. Thoso who havo watched the fight nro up In the air. Ask a politician who will land and ho will apply the same question to you. If ho has an opinion ho Is too timid to express it. Tho light that Carr Is making has nttracted attention In many quarters. Ho has somo strong backing but it Is stated that ho will bo unablo to land tho place. It Is understood on good au thority that charges have been re cently filed against him. Tho nature of these charges Is not known. If ho Is nblo to overcome them ho M stand as good a show as any of tho others. Ho has fought tho organiza tion while it hns stood by and watch ed tho fight with awe. It Is doubtful if tho organization was confronted with such a peculiar con dition, a condition that will probably preclude tho possibility of It naming its candidates in several fights that nro ponding. Republicans aro laying tho blnmo on Sopor, who. It is said, by his actions has aroused tho wrath of the president. It Is reported that Soper Is on his way to Washington. What ho desires to do Is a quostlon that many would like to know. But Soper Is a fighter and thoso who cross his path will And it anything but rosy, e-en though It Is reported that he is persona non gratia In Washington. It may bo possible that he is laying un derground wires for tho enomy. Thoso who know him best show tomerity when It comes to flghtin? him. There will be those who will gladly welcorao his downfall. It would bo unllplomatle to rejolco In his presence. Tho friends of Col. Humphrey are trusting that with tho showing ho has mndo ho will secure tho place. Many firmly believe that tho offlco will go to an outsider. But as has been stated they do not care to be quotoa on tho subject. Judge Rufe Scott Dead.
