Chairman of tho waterworks com mittee stated that that committee, was confronted with tho proposition of laying the water mains la the differ ent wards and recommended that the aldermen In each ward tako up the mattor nnd decide where the mains are to be Inld In their wards. Mayor Dick stated that soma concessions would have to be made by the resi dents of each ward, aa tho mains could not be laid on ovcry street In each ward. This matter will bo left to the discretion of the council. Chairman Stuart of tho ordinance committee presented un ordinance from the Ardmoro Ll&ht and Powor Co., asking for a franchlso for the erection and maintaining of a street rallwuy, for thu cltl. Thu ordinance was passed to its second reading. Chairman Randol of thu sanitary committee stated that tho wator used at tho Union depot was unheulthy and recommended that boiuo action bu takon on that subject. Alderman Pennington of tho llnanco committee recommended that J. B. Smith be not mado to pay tho 25 per con tax which ho had been charged for not paying his tax on time.
