The Oil Industry of the United Slates has been inspired to drill deeper since
- the Arnold well of the Texas Company gushed its first flow
of high gravity oil in the
Newcastle Oil
DEEPEST PRODUCING WELL IN THE COUNTRY, 4,655 FEET.
Located four miles south. of NEWCASTLE, YOUNG COUNTY, TEX., the Arnold is one of
four tests of the Texas Company in this district. The product is 12 gravity, highest gasoline con
tent found anywhere at great depth. Other pay sands were tapped in the Arnold at :U' and
1,000 feet. Either would have made a profitable producer if completed at those depths, first flow
in the Arnold July lWvl!Hi).
TEXAS COMPANY'S NO. 2 A GOOD PRODUCER.
Tlie Texas-Company's No. '1 well in block 3110. four miles southwest of the Arrold was com
pleted September 17 by a (0-quart shot of nitro at -1,000 feet. It blew in early last February with a
flow that shot far above the crown block,, drenching the ground and trees for many rodls. This per
formance was repeated on a larger -cale when completed. Pinched down it had flowed by h"ads
to that date, producing thousands of barrels of 2S gravity oil, nuich.tif which was used in other'
