It was not a uUesUou of the Brandy wine not being able to hit the hall. They touched Up "Billy" Day tor a total of six hits. Their trouble was In base running. W lion they got upon a bag they did not seem to know what to do. Mack led In the hitting, collecting a singles, and one that throe-bagger and 'Billy" Gray knocked out would have easily been a (tipple to an ordinary runner, but the big first base man la a little off In sprinting at pres ent. and usually asks for a runner. tw< The timely hit of Sweeney in the second Inning, with two men on buses, came In handy. DOWN STATE BASEBALL Season Will Be Opened Tomorrow. Strong Teams at Dover and ... Smyrna. Dover, July S.—The new State as «(.nation of buse ha 11 clubs will open the season with "double-headers" to morrow, playing games in the morning at 10 o'clock and the afternoon at J.30. There was some talk of Inaugurating "twilight" baseball, to be played each evening at 5.S0, hut this will not be done at this time for the reason that the Delaware railroad trains would not be suitable. The Dover Club will make Its appear ance on the diamond with the new Smyrna team. The locals will consist of the strongest independent players yet handed together to represent the State capital, ami will probably Include Carls», catcher of the University of Pennsylvania; Vinson, the heavy-hit ting left fielder of Chester: Hoover, of the New Jersey association ; Baker, of Oxford, Pa.: Junes and Gooden, and probably Wilson, of Delaware College; Gum, of Wllllston: Donoho, Johnson nnd Griffith, who have made such good records In batting and fielding, and Clark, formerly of Dover and Atlantic City. Hoover Is already on the ground and Vinson will arrive today. These two men will probably pitch the opening games. Milford has thus far the strongest independent club in the field. Yesterday the Dover Field Club, an organization of "future greats," travelled to Mil lord to test the sterling worth of the new Sussex team and were defeated by 37 lo 1, probably the most remarkable score ever heaped up on a Delaware dhi niond. Some of the Mllfordites were In charitable enough lo send the news out that Milford had beaten "Dover" hy a score of 2, to 1 much to the dismay of Manager UGotten and Director Atkin son. who have been counting on the largest attendance at the opening games on Saturday ever «forded In I lover. An effort was made hy the manage ment to get the Baltimore Eastern League team, but about noon, finding this was impossible, the Philadelphia club was secure» Thek seemed to make a special ef fort to prove to the spectators they did not know anything about the game and were successful to a degree. A Wonderfully Simple Necessity Soldat a Simply Wonderful Profit With new factories of tho International Broom Com pany to be established In the United States, Canada and eleewhere, the royalties from eub-companles will pay a handsome dividend, aa well as great profits from tbs Im mense export trade. This Company should be able to earn 20 to 80 par cent for Ita stockholders. Present Price of Shares, 50c. Incorporated In the District of Columbia, under Special Act of Congress, Approved by tha President of ths United States. Capital Stock, $2.600,000, In Shares of |1 Each. The patents under which the New Broom- Is made are controlled absolutely by this Company, and are declared by experts Incontestable. • This New Broom la a Monopoly. It is no experiment. It ha* been fully tested. At large expense a factory was established In Brooklyn, N. Y., to manufacture these Brooms, for months. In ordar to assure ourselves that they were what ths public demanded and that they could be made at a large profit Then we offered them to the largo wholesalers and leading department etorea. The factory was at once crowded with repeated orders. Some of those orders from such noted New York firms as Austin, Nich ols A Co., Macy, Blegel-Cooper, and ethers, we have had photographed and hound in a large book, which we will be pleased to send to Intending Investors, with our prospec tus. The result of our extended experience in manufactur ing this New Broom is that equal grades CAN BE MADE FOR ABOUT 20 TO 80 PER CENT. LESS AND SOLD FOR ABOUT 20 TO 80 PER CENT. MORE THAN THE OLD STYLE. Our patented process enables the use ot shorter broom « This stock Is a proposition of vnusvai attractiveness for the conserva tive investor who wishes to secure maximum profit with maximum safety. ; i For Prospectus, Book of Proofs, display of Brooms, and any otlier information, apply to JAMES BARKLEY, Room 3. 921 Market Street. « • I ÜT' I " He builded better than he knew " —Emerson When in liis modest work shop in Providence three gen erations ago the founder ot the Gorham Co. Grand Stand, Ballyahannon, Ireland, July 3.—Tha international automobile race for the James Gordon Bennett Cup was run and won by Jen utzy, a member of the German team, who covered tha distance of 370% miles In six hours, 36 minutes and 9 i seconds, Including the stops Imposed ' by the regulations. Two members of the French team ran each other so ! close for second place that It Is not I yet known whether De Knylf or Far ' man Is entitled to the honor. Only j one minute divided them. It is thought ! that De Knylf's claim to second place ] will be upheld. The most remarkable features ot the j g rea t race were Its practical Immunity { from serious accidents and the wretch | ed showing by the American team. At Qallysbannon no news has been ro ; celved ot any one being injured ex cept one ot the contestants, the Eng lish crack Jarrott and bis chatteur. Jarrott had a miraculous escape from death, and now lies with a broken collar-bone and a badly bruised body. His chaft'eur also has a fractured col larbone, besides a broken leg. Both, however, are doing well. The acci dent occurred through tho steering gear of the favorite English car get ting out of order when going at full speed. Instead ot turning a corner the automobile ran straight into tha bank ftt the aide of tho road and was smashed clean in two. corn than the old method, thus saving about 40 per cent In material. By tha use of this process and machinery no skilled labor Is required, thus saving 60 per cent. In wages. We have proven that the New Broom eells on Its merits as soon as seen. Above 60,000,000 brooms are used In this country, probably as many more abroad. We should sell many ot these brooms. Because the handle ot the New Broom Is detachable It can be shipped abroad for one-third to one-half the expense of the old style. A factory Is now In operation In London, and one Is starting In Ottawa. Canada, Ivi addition to the present fac tory In Brooklyn. With sufficient capital to properly de velop this really gigantic proposition, start sufficient sub factories and buy supplies In large quantities, the profits cannot help becoming very large—on the order of those of Standard Oil, Steel, Telephone, etc. We suggest that Interested persons living at a distance from New York should form clubs end send a represen tative or two to New York, where you can obtain a pass from the office of THE INTERNATIONAL BROOM COM PANT, 805-309 Broadway, visit tho Brooklyn factory and make a thorough investigation ot the Plans, Purpose« and Personnel of this Company. We have nothing to hide. Our Directorate Is composed of leading men In the busi ness world, our factory Is In operation, our Brooms are now bnlng «0I4 In large numbers In the leading stores of New York and elsewhere.
