Just smile, and say It is warm to day." This Is the advice given by Dr. James H. Morgan, who was asked for Information to-day about how to keep cool these warm days. "The man who uses the most cuss words during hot weather is the man who suffers most from the heat," con tinued the doctor. "Now at first glance," remarked Dr. Morgan, "that might sound very fool ish, but on sober reflection 99 persons out of 100 will agree with me. In my long years of experience, I have al ways found It to bs the case that a man who fusses and fumes through the summer sind ends In criticism of the weather by always damning 'Old Sol* for heating up the earth so Is the man who Is always mopping his perspiring brovf. "My advice Is: Never cuss or swear in the summer time, and you'll keep cool. Yes. you'll feel a breeze all the time. When you swear It naturally follows that you are getting worked up, and this means that you become warmer, until you almost reach the boiling point. "The rijan who, gees along the even tenor of his way—the fellow who'never irs. is that man who never pays any attention to the good old sum mertime. He Is always smiling, and strolls along as cool as a cucumber. Indeed, from his appearance one would think that ho Is In the midst of a snowstorm. He even makes you shiver to look at him. You don't see his linen ruffled. It looks as if it had come fresh from the laundry. ' "How different with the man who cusses or swears. He goes without his hat and coat, but still he Is warm. Then he swears and he gets warmer; he swears still more and he becomes hotter, and the more he swears the hotter he gets. So you see there is no use in swearing at the weather after all. "My advice to WilmlngtoBlans Is never become ruffled and never swear. To swear Is to be warm, exceedingly warm. Not to swear Is to live c»n tinually In a mountain of breeze. Just as you like." Along with the "don't swear" rem edy. Dr. Morgan-sandwletjed In some other timely words of advice about dressing and drinking cool beverages. By all means, he goes on to say. a per son should not overdress In this warm weather, and when overheated, never sit In a draft. The doctor would also _ persons about drinking Iced water hen suffering Intensely from the heat. Water barely cold is better and would the same purpose In quenching « .irn answer the thirst. Longing. John M. Dorney. By 'Tts strange how the heart doth hun ger. How our very souls do cry. How we weep and moan, when we're alone. For our loved ones, when they die. Though death be walling all of us. That 'tls so. w# know Is truth. And yet we moan, when we're akme. For our darling little Ruth. There's her picture on the mantel. See her sparkling eyes so blue, And her golden hair, so rich and rare. Ah! there's woe. (or me and you. I can almost hear her prattle, Oh! she left us In her youth. Though the years they flow, we still have woe. We miss our darling little Ruth, Yes. we know 'tls wrong to murmur, And we know that she's at rest. That she's out of the strife and cares of life. And the Master He knows best. "Suffer the children to oome to Me." Yes. we love that blessed truth. Yet our human heart doth often smart, We miss our darling, blue-eyed Ruth. There be hours in the twilight When I feel that Ruth is near; I do not know, but it does seem so Oh! to see her face so dear. But she's waiting for us yonder, Waiting In eternal youth, O'er the mystic tide of death's river wide. We shall meet our darling Ruth. TRANSPORTATION REDUCTION IN FARE.
