Island Near Alaska.
Westhope Standard: W. W. Jones
and family left this week for Kake,
Alaska, where they will make their
future home for the next several years,

it, Kake is an island off the coast of
Alaska, and is about 600 acres in area,
heavily wooded, and well adapted to
the business Mr. Jones and a few
Westhope people are interested in,
which is fox farming. They have over
100 foxes on the island now, the
Siberian blue fox, the fur of which is
very valuable, a single skin being
worth at the present time about $75.
The foxes they have there now will
be allowed to breed there unmolested
for the next two or three years which
from that time on they can sell a large
number of furs every year. Mr. Jones
will manage the business for the com

Minneapolis Journal: A Grand
Forks youth, anxious to throw that)
town, crawled under a seat on the
Great Northern train and would have
come through to Minneapolis without
detection had not the conductor been
startled at Fargo by what sounded like
a young threshing machine in action.
He investigated and/ discovered the
stowaway sound asleep and snoring
visibly with a noise like cyclone
tearing down a Colorado canyon. The
snorer was hauled out by the train
crew, not too gently, and deposited
with a bump on the Fargo platform.
