This grand avenue extends from the mountains on the north to Covina and the I mountains on the south, a distance of nine miles. | It passes through the center of Gladstone, making lots on that avenue very valuable. A lot near the center of the town is reserved for the First National Bank of Gladstone, and a prominent architect of Los Angeles is now preparing plans for the building, which will be of solid granite. A Newspaper is to be established at once and additional buildings for stores and shops erected. The founders of Gladstone own exten sive marble quarries near at hand from which can be obtained handsome building stone in un limited quantities and it is expected that marble and granite will be liberally used in the con struction of the new business blocks. They also own a Valflble Water Power independent of the Azusa water, having a fall of two hundred feet, which will be used for generating electricity by which the streets of Gladstone will be lighted and by which the street cars will be propelled. The center of Gladstone is already the estab lished business center for the whole Azusa and is surrounded on all sides by productive land un der the highest state of cultivation. The lands purchased for Gladstone possess a more valuable water right than those of any part of the State. The source is the San Gabriel river, which is constant in its flow, whether the season is wet or dry. Gladstone, situated at the east ern extremity of the great San Gabriel valley, overlooks a scene surpassing in beauty and variety that commanded by any other point— Duarte, Monrovia, Arcadia, Santa Anita, Sierra Madra, Lamanda Park, Pasadena and the great Raymond Hotel are in full view. Gladstone is located on the lines of two great transcontinental railways, both of which cross the lands of the company. The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe road is already about com pleted, and the construction parties approaching tffrom the west and the. east will meet on the lands - of Gladstone on the first day of sale. The San Gabriel Valley road will run excursion trains out on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the 19th, 20th and 21st inst., landing passengers within a mile of Gladstone, and carriages will be in wait ing each day in charge of Mr. Fuller, who will 1 show visitors over the land and return them to the trains without any charge. Trains leave the ' Downey avenue bridge at 9:30 a. m. each day, and returning leave Gladstone at 3 o'clock p. m., and arrive at Los Angeles at 4:20 p. m. All of the numerous offers for lots and lands in Gladstone already received have been refused and will be steadily refused until the day of sale, when all shall have a fair and equal chance to purchase at the schedule price. The terms of sale will be 10 per cent, when selections are made, enough to make one-third payment within ten days and the balance in six and twelve months. DAY OF SALE ANNOUNCED SOON.
