STOPPED AGAIN.
The Electric Road and Its Prospects.
A Ueal On.
The Electric Street Railroad is laid up
again, and the cars are in the barn and
tbe batteries detached while the resi
dents along the lino of the road are com
pelled to provide their own transporta
tion. Inquiry at the office of she com
pany yesterday elicited the news that
another deal is on the tapis whereby the
line is to be transferred to a wealthy
syndicate, and that a meeting on the
matter will be held on Friday. Should
the transfer be made tbe lino will at once
be taken out of the receiver's hands,
started up again and all will be as
formerly. It seems that the projectors
of the proposed air line to Santa Monica,
which is to run via the Palms, are wait
ing to Bee what, becomes of the electric
road bffore they do anything more in
tlie matter, for they are desirous of con
necting with that road ami thereby se
curing a depot in the heirt of the city.
The Kullroad Magnates.
Messrs. Huntington and Towne, of the
Southern Pacific, were heard from yes
terday. At noon they had arrived at
Zacatoeas, on the Mexican Central, hav
ing reached that road at Torreon over
the International from E.igle Pass, which
is controlled by Mr. Huntinnton. They
will go on to the City of Mexico, and
then turn and come via El Paso to this
city. They may, therelore, be expected
about Sunday next.
