Prognostication* of the Local Observer. Main In th* Nut Future. In Southern California the reports re ceived at the observer's office ahow that light rains have fallen at Han Diego and San Luis Obispo, with olondy weather and steadily but slowly falling barom eter and generally easterly and souther ly winds. No rain baa fallen at Loa Angelea, bnt tbe indications ate favorable for light rains. From appearance of the mountains in the direction ol Tejunga pass, it ia an parent that rain baa fallen there thia afternoon, and possibly enow in the mountains. Generally cloudy weather prevails on tha coaat from Portland to San Diego, wtth decreasing pressure and generally easterly to southerly winds. The local prediction from tbe greater number of stations indicate foul weather or rain. During tbe month of November there was no precipitation in Southern Cali fornia, except at tbe cloaa of the month in San Luis Obiapo and vicinity. Tbe absence of rain in tbis month ie not an unprecedented thing in Sonthern California, aa tba statistics ahow within tbe period of which there ia an official record tbat there were five yeara in wbicb no rain fell during thia month, and that the precipitation was nominal, or very much below the average for a period of yeara. PREPARING FOR WINTER, Geo. Deri* Steals a Laprobe, and 1* Promptly Ran Id. Abont 6 o'oclock laat evening Mra. O. E. Day drove np to tbe hardware atore of Major Fnrrey on North Spring etreet, and witb her aon entered tbe atore to make aome pnrobaaaa. Upon ber return to tbe buggy ahe found that ber buggy robe waa missing, having been stolen during tba few minutea tbat ehe waa in tbe atore. Her aon drove to police headquarters and reported tbe affair, and tbe officers in the business portion of the city were notified to keep a lookout for the robe. About 6 o'clock Officer Conley, while walking on Upper Main street, noticed a man walking on tbe oppoaite aida of the etreet with a robe over bia arm. The actions of tba man were of such a character as to arouse the suspicious of the officer, wboarreeted bim and brought him to the station where be wae booked on suapicion. When the robe waa handed to Mr. Bean the clerk recognized it aa being the one reported, and aent for the aon of Mrs. Day, who identified it as their property. Tbere will be a charge of patit larceny lodged againat the fellow, who gave bia name at tbe elation aa George Davis. A BARON GONE. A Former Uaklandrr Quietly Laavea California. The Oakland correspondent east to the San Francisco Chronicle says: The departure of A. W. Benson from Los Angeles ia not a matter of indifference to a good many Oxklandere. Mr. Ben son who recently managed tbe Grand opera house in tbe city of the citron belt, was at one time well known in tbis town aa the managor of the People's theater. Hia reputation iv the show business has been achieved in various countries end under euudry names. That of Baron Ziegler waa probably the most pretentious of all. Some of his friends insist that he has gone east for the purpose of securing new attractions, but there are many wbo discredit thia reassuring statement. Tbe tact of tbe matter is tbat tbe "Bar on" has got himself involved in the game financial difficulties that sur rounded him wben ba left Otkland. where a good many creditors atill are anxiously looking for bia whereabouts, not having bad any other notice of his leaving town than what they read in the papere wben he landed iv Lob Angeles and secured tbe leaae of the Grand opera bonae.
