SPENCER'S SUICIDE Coroner- Inquisition Decided It So Yesterday The Old Man Took Advantage of His Wife's Absence, Closed lip His Room and Traveled the (ias Route ED, H. Spencer's mysterious death Si 84*3 South Urundway last Saturday was Inquired into by Coroner Campbell yes terday morning at Howry's undertaking es t aid ish ment. The jury decided that Spencer had committed suicide. The in quest was brief but was well attended and carefully conducted. Tho suspicion rhot the old marl hud been murdered, which has Honied about the criminal department und tbe public places generally, was present at tho III* quisitiun and has not been thoiougly dis pelled yet. Tho second supposition, of accidental death, advanced by the moie charitable, was promptly placed upon the shelf. That left murder and suicide to stalk about the jury room before tho jurors, Mrs. Ann Spencer, the widow, was lirst called. She testified to having been married to Spencer twelve years ago. he being her second husband, and she oe.ng his second wife. They both had children by former marriages. she said their married life ban always been pleasant. She had Deen at Mrs. «.'harks Miles' house, where her husband bad taken her tbe evening before and where sho bad spent tlie night and had not retur.ied to her home at nil on Friday night. Hhe was unnnle to account for her husband's sudden death and scouted tne idea of sui cide, though spoke of his being afflicted with an appetite for morphine, She was much moved while speaking of Spencer's loving kindness to her and was weeping before she lelt the room, Her evidence was strongly given and was corioborted by Mrs. Charles Miles, with whom she stopped, and Charles I).
