Dwlght and Emma Cbilds are Wed BRILLIANT BRIDAL PARTY Tbe Ceremony Performed By Bishops Mora and Montgomery Beautiful and Elaborate Costumes ol the Bride, Bridesmaids and fla d of Honor— The Decorations—Tho Quests At 8:30 last evening, in the presence of a brilliant company and surrounded by the most beautiful decorations nature affords in a semi-tropic clime. Miss Emma Childs of this city, and John Wilbur Dwight of Mew York, were united in marriage. Tbe ceremony was performed at the res idence of the bride's mother, Mrs. Emm i line H. Childs, No. 1111 South Main street, by the Rt. Rev. Bishop Francis Mora of the diocese of Los Angeles and Monterey, as sisted by the coadjutor Bishop Montgom- •ry- Just before the appointed hour Ahren's orchestra began the sweet, joyful strains of tohengrin's wedding inarch. As the bride descended the stairway she was accompa nied by her brother, Oiro W. Childs. l'he ushers, Col. Fred Crocker of San Francisco, and James Slausnn of this city, aud the maid of honor. Miss Hortense Childs, pre ceded and led the way to the southwest parlor of the mansion. Here awaited the groom with the grooms man, lion. J- Sloat Fassett of Klmyra. New York. In tho hay window beneath a bower of delicate, d limy asp .razus fern and ever green,tho bride and groom standing directly under a "horn of plenty''of brides' roses, the imprestlve words of the betutiful set vice of the Koman Catholic church were pronounced. Tho parlor was a veritable bower of decorations. Tho mantel was a bank of ferns, against which rested orchids, Amer ican Beauty and bride roses. The luck tiarlor presented a sight of bewildorhur icauty in its decorations of pins carna tions. Some twenty or thirty of tho immediate friends of the bride, in addition to the bridal party, were present during the cere mony. The bride was attired in an elegant cos tume of white ivory satin, with point del Ancon lace. The waist was trimmed with tulle lace and seed pearls The veil was of point lace. The hmd hoquet was of or ange blossoms. Tiie ornaments were a diamond brooch and a diamond sun burst. The maid of honor. Miss Hortense Childs, was most charmingly attired in mousliue de soie, with Valenciennes lace iusertlon and satin ribbon. The bridesmaids. Miss Edith 0« Shorb and Mist Ruth Childs. wore costumes of white satin, trimmed with white luce. On one shoulder of each was an American Beauty rose, and tho belts were of satin of a shade to match the delicate color of the roses. Both bridesmaids carried boquets of lilies of the vulloy. At the conclusion of the ceremony a re ception was tendered the brid< and groom, I commencing at :> p. m., to which the num ber of guests excelled that of any liko function ever before seen in tiiis city. At 10 p. m. supper was served in tha dining room to the bridal party. The decorations of the bouse, lawn and veranda were beautiful and extensive. The lawn presented a sight most impressive, of vari-colored lights. Chinese lanterns were strung from the trees, and at various points an arc light was suspended. Tho veranda was inclosed and brilliantly illu minated. The decorations were by Jones of San Francisco, and the supper was , served by Ludwig, also of San Francisco. The we lding giftß were numerous and cost y, and came from friends all over the United States. Mr. and Mrs. John Wilbur Owight will remain in Southern California until tlie end of the week. They will then depart for New York city and the east. On Janu- | ary Bth Mr. and Mrs. Dwight will sail for j I'.urope. They will tour the principal cities of the continent. They will return in ! April or May to New York city, and will take up their residence in the metrop .lis. Mr. Dwight is a a well-known citizen of the Empire state, both in commercial and political circles. He is the president of the Dwight Land and Farm Company of North Dakota, a corporation owning thousands of acres of land iv the north. Tlie bride was born and reared in the city of Los Angeles. Ferry Claims Thnt She Wai Deceived When She Settled Tacoma, Wastt., Dec. 10.—A suit Hied in the United Htatcs circuit court re calls the Paris scandal of five years ago in which Colonel and Mrs. C. P. Ferry of thia ci'y figured as principals. They were subsequently divorced. Mia. Kvelyn V, Kerry, the wife, brought an action today to set aside and have declared void a cer tain release made by her to him at the ime the divorce was obtained sevorat years ago, by which she accepted $50,000 in full settlement Of her community inter est, and which she now declares to have been worth at that lime $w>o,ooo. Sue alleges the settlement wa < procured by fraud and misrepresentations made to her by Mr. Perry, and by J. 11. Metcalf, whom she makes a party to the suit, and who acted at that time as her attorney. She charges collusion between them by means of which she was led to believe the property was worth but $l."i 0,000. The community estate lies in Oregon and Washington. She now claims on -halt of the Washington property and one-ihi d of the Oregon, being the wife's portion under the laws of each state. Allen, Kil loran and Dussell, had formed a plot to blow up the jail with dynamite, but that he was not in the plot.
