The difference is this: A woman decides jn tho man before she concludes to marry. A man concludes to marry before he de cides on the girl. A SOCIAL QUEEN What the Woman Reporter Learned in Answer to Personal Questions "Who would ever believe that she Is the mother of five children?" These were the words that caught the ear of the woman re porter, as she moved among the throng at a fashionable reception. Just before her stood the hostess, a young-looking, hand some woman, receiving her guests with that air of hearty, vivacious enjoyment which all the world considers as the special prerogative of youth. There was sparkle in her eyes, a soft, clear, natural color In her cheeks; she had a linn and rounded form, and that steady, easy polso of the whole body which be tokens strong limbs and healthy nerves. It was tho reporter's business to be curi ous; moreover, she was a woman, and, re ceiving gruclous permission to call on the. following day, she duly presented herself, armed with a hundred such questions as only a woman can ask. "Ye», I have llvo children," said the hostess, with a tone of earnest, happy pride, "ftnd hope I'll have live more. I love every one of them. They arc good children, too, and a comfort lo mo all the time. "You can't understand It, of course, and my friends wonder that 1 keep my health and strength and do my work: but I take care of myself, that Is the reason. I never used t" be so strong. I was thoughtless and careless. After my first baby came I was all broken down, and prayed tbat I might never have another; but 1 have learned bet ter, and I am stronger now than I ever was In my life. "Women break down because they go without the Mttle extra help they need to tide them over hard places. When a woman expects to become a mother she ought to bo at her very best. But tbat Is exactly the time w hen most women teel weak and sick and miserable. They grow melancholy and anxious as the time approaches, and when It comes they have no strength or stamina of mind to go through the ordeal. "No wonder they suffer and nearly die sometimes, and are all broken down for months or years. If they would take the right caro of themselves and strengthen themselves in a natural way, they would never suffer as they do, and. Instead ot dreading to have children, they would wel come them as a real blessing. "It is simply a case of a 'stitch in time saves nine," or, rather, nine hundred. A little natural reinforcement at the time when baby is expected will save months, perhaps years, of suffering and.weakness. At such times I always take Dr. Pierces Favorite Prescription; It Invariably gives me the extra strength and healthy nerve power which a woman needs to bring her baby into the world safely and comfort ably. "It is the most wonderful thing In the world to build up a woman's nervous sys tem and strengthen tho special organism of motherhood. It gives you the recuper ative power that a woman cannot get in any other way. It carries you through the nursing time beautifully; it helps you to nourish tho baby, and makes him hearty and strong, too. My four younger children are the sturdiest youngsters you ever saw; this one grand 'Favorite Prescription' has made me tho healthy, happy mother 1 am. "1 ran tell you of a dozen women who have had almost tho same experience as mine. I saw a letter written by Mrs. Jen nie J. Jackson, who lives at Fergussons Wharf, in Use, of Wight county, Va. These aro her own words: '1 have enjoyed better health since taking Dr. Pierces medicine than I have since I have been married. I can work hard all day and sleep well at night. I was almost gone when I wrote to Dr. Pierce, three years ago. 1 had uter ine trouble very badly, but, thank the Dord, lam very well now. My doctor did not have any faith in 'patent medicines,' but he says, 'Something has done you good.' I triad many different medicines and got no better until 1 tried Dr. Pierces medicines. Tho lirst bottle gave me ease. 1 have taken six bottles of "Favorite Prescription," and I feel as well as ever In my life and can work hard all day and do as much walking as I ever did. 1 know if I had not taken Dr. Piercu's medicines I could not 'have lived long, as I was nothing but a skeleton. I was so thin In flesh that it hurt me to He down. I can never be thankful enough for tho trouble he took ln advising mo what to do.' "Another one I know about Is Mrs. V. A. Davenport of Mlllbbro, Bath county, Va. She says: 'On one occasion I used "Favor ite Prescription" and Dr. Pierces Golden Medical Discovery alternately, six bottles In all, after having bad a miscarriage and severe hemorrhages. I was not able to walk across the floor without holding on to a chair. My family doctor said I would soon gain strength, but It seemed to me too long. I was very low spirited and began to think 1 would never get well, but the bright thought came to nic that I would take Dr. Pierces medicines. By the time I had used six bottles I was well nnd able to do all the work for my family, and I also took In sewing. I can safely say that It was tho use of Dr. Pierces medicines that built me up, Whenever I feel tired and have an "all-gone" feeling from overwork, I take one or two bottles of this valuable medicine, and it gives me prompt relief, and I can go on with my household duties. Dr. Pierces Favorite Prescription is tho best "Woman's Friend" und tonic of all the medicines I have ever trlod. Tt paves doc tors' bills, and I thank God I found relief by its use.' "1 think Dr. Pierce has done more toward making healthy, happy women than any Other man In Ibis country. Ue Is an edu cated doctor: he has had a lifetime of ex perience; his medicine:! are the only pro prietary remedies J know of that are In dorsed by physicians, and his book, 'The Common Sense Medical Adviser,' is worth LOS ANGELES? Lots of! times, when tho children or my husband 1 have had some little attack of sickness, this book has told me Just how to nip It in the bttd. It litis Saved me no end of doc tor's bills. It has over a thousand pages, and is full of Illustrations nnd colored plates. One chapter Is devoted to woman's special physiology, and describes some of the most Interesting cases you ever heard of —women who were all broken down with complaints which seemed to be incurable, but were brought out healtny and strong again by careful icientiflQ treatment. "If you want a heavy cloth-bound copy of the book, like this one (picking up and exhibiting to the reporter a large, beauti fully bound volume), send :!1 stamps, and address World's Medical Dispensary Asso ciation, OKI Main street, Buffalo, N. Y. WORDS OF PRAISE FROM A VENER- ABLE PHYSICIAN D, W. Vowlcs, M. It is not common for regular physicians to indorse and recom mend proprietary medicines, but in this case I have no equivocation or hesitancy in so doing. Brought to the notice of the public through Dr. Schiffman only. SINCE TEETH CAN BE FILLED by tbe SCHIFFMAN METHOD without pain and with perfect safety, it is but common sense to have them attended to then only a small filling Is required, Instead of waiting until only a shell is left and the expense more than doubled. MANY OF THE TEETH may bo saved by lilting a gold crown, and for the front teeth porcelain facing to the tooth or root. Fac Simile Gold Crowns (one of Dr. Schiffman's latest and mom unique improvements), made to cover the tooth and accurately tit around Its neck and extend just beneath the margin of the gums, thus protecting the tooth completely and practically making an old tooth new. OUR SYSTEM OF REMOVABLE BRIDGE TEETH docs away entirely with the wearing of artificial plates, obviating tbe covering of the roof of the mouth or palate, hence the sense of taste is not Interfered with, as with a plate. It can be taken out and cleaned at will. Is tinner than a plate, cannot be laughed, coughed or sneezed out of tbe mouth. Is perfectly secure and comfortable. Takes up very little room, only a narrow ridge around the edge of the gums. Costs less than bridge work and can easily be repaired in case of breakage, which is an ad vantage over stationary bridge work. Put in absolutely without pain. No grind ing away of healthy teeth, no tedious sittings for fittings of crowns, no cutting off of teeth, no killing of nerves. Being constructed on purely scientific principles and common sense, it 11 ts the mouth with perfect accuracy.
