Cromer Appear in Court Because Cramer's Canine Bit Burk's Son — Dispute as to Weight of "Togo" For a few moments Police Judge Austin, Prosecuting Attorney George Beebe and the trial of Samuel K. Burk faded Into Insignificance while a hot discussion over dogs and dogology was carried on. The case was brought by C. F. Croner of 1609 New Hamp shire street, secretary of the Farmers Mutual Life Insurance company, on the part of his son Fred, who claimed that a fox terrier belonging to Mr. Hanks, a prominent dentist, had bit ten him August 2. • - • "Your honor," said Burk, "in the kindest time of Togo's existence he appears fierce simply because 2ils lower jaw protrudes, showing hts teeth" r^iil Promer, Interrupting: "That may all be but my son is not the only one that has been bitten by the dog. The dog is a big one and weighs at least fifty pounds; he Is very dangerous." Burk apparently Ignoring Comer:"l have this to say, your honor, the dog Is a small one and tips the scales at twenty-five pounds." Comer: "The dog snaps at peoples' heels when they pass by. If I thought I could have adjusted the case I would not have brought it into court." Burk (for the first time addressing the plaintiff): "Then, sir, I am very sorry that you and I did not confer for I do not believe the dog to be vicious. I have been brought tip nmong dogs and never saw one that was cross to me." Cromer: "So was I and when I had anything 1 to do with a good dog he would not trouble me." The court interrupted the dialogue and ordered the case to proceed. Upon the promise of Burk to send the dog out of town he was given the mini mum fine, $20.
