intention to Improve » portion of Olive
street and determining that bonds shall

The Mayor and Council of the City of
Los Angeles do ordain as follows:
Section 1. That the publlo Interest unrl
convenience require, and that It is tne
intention of the City Council of the City
of Los Angeles to order the following
work to b* done,. to wit: '
Ist. That Sald YE gTREET
In said city from the south line of
Thorn . street to ■ fhe north line of
Vernon avenue, Including all Intersections
of streets (excepting such portions of
said street and Intersections as are re-
quired by law to be kept In order or
lepalr by any person or company hav-
*ing railroad tracks thereon, and also
excepting such portions as have al-
ready been graded and graveled and
accepted), be graded and graveled to
the official grade In accordance with
the) plans and profile on file In the of-
fice of the City Engineer and specifica-
tions for the construction of graveled
streets (Class B), In the City of Los
Angeles, on file In the office of the City
Clerk of said city, said specifications
being No. 27 (New Series).
2nd. That a cement curb be con-
•tructud along each line of the road-
way .of said Olive Btreet, from the
south curb line of Thorp street to the
north curb line of Vernon avenue (ex-
cepting along such portions of the line
of said roadway upon which a cement
■! or granite curb has already been con-
ntructed to the official line and grade).
In accordance with specifications for
constructing cement curbs, on file in
the office ol the City Clerk, said speci-
fications being No. 22 (New Series).
; • Sd. That a cement sidewalk five (5)
feet in width be constructed along each
'side of Olive street from the south curb
line of Thorp street to the north curb
line of Vernon avenue (excepting such
portions of said street between Bald
points along which a cement or
asphalt sidewalk five (6) feet in
width has been constructed to
the official line and grade), said stde-
. -walk to be constructed in accordance
with specifications for constructing
cement sidewalks on file in the office
of the City Clerk of said city. Raid
npeclflcatlons being No. 23 (New
Series).
Sec. 2. The Council of said city
finds upon estimate of the City Engineer
that the total cost of said Improve-
ment will be greater than fifty cents
per front foot along' each line of said
street. Including the cost of intersec-
tions, and It Is determined, In pur-
euance of an Act of the Legislature
of the Btato of California, approved
February 27th, 1833. as amended by an
Act !of the Legislature amending said
last named Act, which amending Act
became a law March 2d, 1899, that bondi
shall be Issued to represent the cost of
Bald improvement. Said bonds shall be
serial, extending over a period of ten
years, an even proportion of the princi-
pal sum of which shall be payable
annually, on the second day of January
of each year, by coupon, after their
date until the whole are paid, and to
bear, interest at the rate of seven (7)
per cent per annum, payable seml-an-
nually on the second days of January
and July of each and every year.
Sec. 3. The Board of Public Works
nhall post notice of this work, as re-
quired by law, and shall cause said
notice to be published for six days In
the Los Angeles Herald.
Sec. 4. The City Clerk shall certify
to the passage of this Ordinance and
shall cause the same to be published
for two days In the Los Angeles Herald,
and shall post the same conspicuously
for two days on or near the chamber
door of the Council, and thereupon and
thereafter it shall, take effect and be
in force.
I hereby certify that the foregoing
Ordinance was adopted by the Council
of the City of Los Angeles at Its meet-
ing of June 11, 1906, by the following vote:
Ayes— Messrs. Blanchard, Ford, Ham-
mon, Killer, Hough ton. Kern and Smith
(7).

near Edgeware road; patnt outside of
building; toilets- inside and out; inside
stairs and v/oodwork in office.
SENTOUS STREET,
corner of Pico; paint outside of building;
toilets inside and out.
NORWOOD STREET,
corner ' of Twenty-first; paint outside of
building and outside of toilets.
HEWITT STREET,

sealed and filed with the Secretary, at
Ills office, on or before Friday, June 22,
1906, at 3 o'clock p. m., at which time the
bids will be opened In public by the
Secretary. The Board reserves the right

the north side of Fifty-seventh street from
Compton avenue to Fortuna street.
The Mayor and Council of the City of
Los Angeles do ordain as follows:
Section 1. That it Is the Intention of
the Council of the City of Los Angeles
to establish the grade, of the north side of
FIFTY-SEVENTH STREET,
. from Compton avenue to Fortuna street,
in accordance with the following eleva-
tions:
At the Intersection with Compton avenue
the grade shall be 170.30 at the northeast
corner.
At the Intersection with Fortuna street
the grade shall be 171.80 at the northwest
corner.
And at all points between said designat-
ed points the grade shall be established
so as to conform to a straight line drawn
between nald designated points.
Elevations refer to the top of the curb,
are in feet and are above a plane which
is 255 feet below City datum plane.
Sec. 2. The City Clerk shall certify to
the passage of this Ordinance and shall

An Ordinance declaring the intention of
the City Council of tho City of Los An-
geles to close up, vacate and abandon,
for street purposes, a portion of Railroad
street; describing said work or improve-
ment, a nd~ specifying the exterior bound-
aries of , the district affected thereby.
The Mayor and Council of the City of
Los Angeles do ordain as follows:
Bection 1. That it is the Intention of
the City Council of the City of Los An-
geles to close irp, vacate . and abandon,
for street purposes, that portion of
RAILROAD STREET,
a public street In the City of Los Angeles,
southeasterly from Magdalena street, da-
scribed as follows, to wit:
Beginning at the most northerly corner
of lot 12, block 8 of the Subdivision of
the Sabtchl Tract, as per map recorded
in Book 3, at page 141, Miscellaneous Rec-
Cids of Los Angeles County; thence
northeasterly In a direct line to the most
westerly corner of lot 9. block 7 of said
Subdivision of the Sablchl Tract; thence
southeasterly In a direct line to the most
southerly corner of said lot 9; thence
southwesterly in a direct lino to the most N
easterly corner of said Ipt 12, block 8 of-
the Subdivision of the Sablchl Tract;
thence northwesterly in a direct line to
the point of beginning.
Sec. 2. That the exterior boundaries of
the district of land to bo affected by said
work or Improvement are hereby speci-
fied and declared to be as follows, to wit:
Beginning at the mbst westerly corner
of lot 12. Block 8 of the Subdivision of
the Sablchi Tract, as hereinbefore men-
tioned; thence northeasterly in a direct
line to the most northerly corner of lot 9,
block 7 of said Tract; thence southeast-
erly in a direct line to the most easterly
corner of said lot 9; thence southwesterly
in a direct line to Uie most southerly
corner of said lot 12, 'block 8; thence
westerly along the southerly line of said
lot 12 to the point of beginning.
Sec. 3. That the Board of Public Works
of the City of Los Angeles is hereby di-
rected to cause notice of the passage of
this Ordinance to be posted at the. places
and in the manner as required by law,
and also to cause a notice similar In sub-
stance to be published as required by law, ■
in the Los Angeles Herald, a dally news-
paper published and circulated in said
City of Los Angeles, and hereby desig-
nated as the newspaper in which such
notice shall be published. . •
Sec. 4. The City Clerk shall certify to
the passage of this Ordinance and shall
cause the same to be published once in
