NEW YORK, Sept. 12.-Prlces of stocks recovered in today's market. The recov ery halted at about lust night's level of prices and there was a long pause, which accounted mostly for the falling off in the day's average of activity. The recov ered level of prices did not induce any renewal of selling. The easing of tne money situation was more decisive today than yesterday and confidence was correspondingly re-estab lished. The call money market showed clearly the influence of the replenishment of banking resources by the Import move ment of gold and 6 per cent was the rate lor the day with the exception of a tem porary rise to 6% per cent. Another $2,000,000 In gold was secured In London for New York. That center also showed itself somewhat less dis turbed over the heavy demands of New York for gold, which have aroused much criticism in London financial circles and nave prompted the advice in the London Times this morning to discriminate in In terest charges for loans on American collateral. A deposit of $1,000,000 at the sub-treas ury for transfer to San Francisco was at tributed to the further payment of fire Insurance losses, although reports of an unexplained run on a Bavlngs bank In that city were discussed in Wall street. As the money rate declines In New York there is some movement toward re tirement of credits by banks outside of New York which were put out to take advantage of the high money rate. But this movement was .-■vercome by the tide of foreign gold and did not nold up the mrmey" rate against that Influence. An advance In the price of government re funding 2 per cents was regarded as sig nificant of probable coming needs by banks for government bonds to serve as security for further relief measures by use of government funds. ' The upward movement originated in the Oould and Harriman Pacifies, but the list was pretty generally involved by the spread of the movement. The closing was .fairly buoyant and active. Bonds -were Irregular.. Total -Bales, par value, $1,560,000. United States 2 registered advanced a half percent and the coupons 2s 1 per cent on call. New York Stocks By Associated Press.
