Other Church New* of Week Milton A. Meßae, one of the leading newspaper men of the country, will deliver an address on "The Successful Young Man" at the Young Men's Christian association at 3:20 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Mr. Mcßae is the ■warm personal friend of President Taft and ex-President Roosevelt. He Js on a trip around the world and Is remaining in Los Angeles for the pur pose of delivering this address. He is a magnetic, forceful speaker and has risen from the ranks to the present Important position he now holds. An attractive program has been pre pared for Sunday afternoon at the association auditorium. At 2:30, at the usual social hour, a farewell re ception will be tendered D. K. Ed wards and W. S. Bartlett, who are members of the board of directors and Who will start on their trip around the ■world next week. Members of the board of directors and other members of the association and friends will be present. Words of greeting will be extended by President Letts, W. E. McVey, D. E. Luther, E. H. Emett and others. The quartet, composed of the wives of the secretaries of the as sociation, will render musical selec tions during the program. Will Give Special Music There will be special music ren dered by A. L. Miller, the harpist and eololst, and also by the quartet con sisting of Mrs. D. E. Luther, Mrs. E. ■H. Emett, Mrs. O. T. Johnson and Mrs. C- F. Quill ian. In addition to these services there ■will be a personal workers' prayer and conference at 2:&5, led by E. A. K. Hackett; a meeting for younger men Jn Triangle hall at 3:15 and another for boys In the boys' parlor at 2:30, clos ing with the home hour in the lobby at 4:35. Reynold E. Blight, minister of the Los Angeles Fellowship, will speak in Blanchard hall, 233 South Broadway, Bt 11 o'clock Sunday on "How to Con cjuer Fate." Prelude on "Shall the Statue of Robert E. Lee Be Placed in the Capitol at Washington?" "Truth About Hell" Dr. Charles Edward Locke, at the First Methodist Episcopal church, will take for his morning subject, "Does the World Need a New God?" In the evening Dr. Locke will continue his present series and will preach on "The Truth About Hell: Where Is It and Who Are There?" "Light in Darkest Africa" will be the subject of an address illustrated with stereopticon views Sunday even ing by Rev. C. D. Williamson, pastor of the li'ithesda Presbyterian church. Rev. A. C. Smithcr, pastor of the Firat Christian church, will speak Sunday morning on the subject, "Our Elims." At the evening service Rev. Mr. Smithor will give a short prelude with stereopticon illustrations on •Amid the Bights and Scenes of Egypt." His evening sermon will be on "Love Your Enemies." Will Dedicate Church The new Westlake Presbyterian church will bt dedicated .Sunday, February 20. Bey. Malcolmn MacLeod, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Pasa dena, will preach the dedicatory ser mon. The new chutch, of which Rev. W. D. Landis is the pastor, is locat ed at the corner of Grand View and Hinth streets. .William Murphy will conduct a tem perance meeting at the hall of the Vol unteers of America Sunday evening. Dr. Kate Waller Barrett, president of the National Florence Crlttenton mission of Washington, D. C, will ad dress a mass meeting at the First Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock on the subject "The White Blave Traffic, the Cause and Cure. 1' "Mountain Whites" Is Topic "The Mountion. Whites" will be the eubjec: of Mra. Van Meter at the Young Women's Christian association vesper service Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock in the association building. "A Call of the Weary" will be the Sunday morning topic of Rev. A. B. Prichaid, pastor of the Central Pres byterian church. In the evening Rev. Mr. Prichard will speak at the Second Presbyterian church on "The Desert and the Indians," illustrated with ster eopticon slides. Rev. Mr. Prichaid will repeat this address Monday morning before the meeting of the Presbyterian ministers in the Bible institute. Rev. Mr. Compton, pastor of the Second church, will occupy Rev. Mr. Prlch nrd's pulpit at the Sunday evening service. To Change Pastorates Rev. F. D. Sheets will speak Sun flay evening at the Boyle Heights Methodist church on "Three Views of the Cross." In the morning he will make a short address at the communion service. Dr. W. E. Tilroe, the new pas tor of this church, will preach his first sermon Sunday, February lft Dr. Sheets' farewell sermon to be preached on the preceding Sunday. Dr. Tilroe ■will begin a series of evangelistic ser vices on his arrival. Dr. Sheets will preach hig initial sermon as pastor of the McCabe Memorial church of Chi cago Sunday, February 27. Workers of the Methodist mission will conduct the Sunday morning service at the Vernon avenue Methodist church. Clyde Crist will speak at the mission on East Fifth street this evening and Rev. (}. T. Foster, the superintendent, will speak at the Sunday evening ser vlce. During the past ten months, c the mission was opened, 1200 conversion* have been reported. To Award Building Contract Itt. Rev. Bishop Johnson left for San Diego last night where he goes to fcwarj the c-ntract for two buildings for ihe bishop's school, which he has recently established. The buildings, •which will bo for dormitory and ad ministration purposes, will accomodate about forty pupils of the boarding school and will be erected at La Jol- Ja. Will Celebrate Conversion Charles Lyle Harris, pastor of the Congregational church of r.nrstow, Cal., will celebrate his eecond spiritual birth day at the City Union Rescue mission, 606 East Fifth street, with a special service Tuesday evening. O. D. Con rey and E. E. Leary, who conducted the service the night Mr. Harris was converted, will makfi addresses at Lhe meeting. Mr. Harris is one of the youngest pastors in California, and His work has met with encouraging results. Rev. J. Q. A. Henry, former pastor of the First Baptist church, has been pass ing the week with his father, who is very ill at his home in Penryn, Cal. Monday the family will he tendered a luncheon by the Ministerial union of San Francisco, and on Tuesday morn ing will sail for Hawaii, en route to Australia. Dr. Henry will speak three times in San Francisco on Sunday. Will Install Pastor The installation sorvide of Rev. Dr. Jones as pastor of the Welsh Presby terian church will be hold at that church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. W. Hunter will preside. Rev. Hugh K. Walker will preach the Installation sermon. Rev. A. B. Prich ard will give the charge to the pastor and Rev. Mr. Compton the charge to the people. The church is located at 438 Crocker street. Special evangelistic services will be held at the Huntington Park Methodist church beginning Sunday and to con tinue until February 8. Three services will be held on Sunday, and on the suc ceeding days services will be held in the j afternoons and evenings. Rev. Joseph Smith of Meridan, Miss., will assist Rev. V. H. Brink, the pastor. Rev. A. W. Rider, Pacific district secretary of the American Baptist Mis sionary union, will speak at the Tern-1 pie Baptist church Sunday morning on "The Mind of the Master, the World's Master Mind." Sunday night Giles B. Kellogg, O. D. Conrey and B. E. Pier-1 son will speak briefly on "The Call of the City Rescue Mission."
