COAL,INOA. March 29.—Coallnga baa
another gusher, and one which threat
ens to equal the famous Mohawk.
It Is W. K. No. 5, section 2, 20-15,
ami hut a short distance from tne ftio
liawk. Tlie news was hurried to town,
and it did not take long for it to reach
the San Francisco exchange, where tho
stock took a jump, nnd iti sympathy
with it tho Turner 2, its neighbor, made
a sharp advance to $3 bid.
The men at the well were prepared
for tho emergency, and in a few hours
mid the flow stopped and the well se
curely cupped. At a late hour this af
*'. moon it was rushing through the
pipes at the rate of 6000 barrels a day.
The oil la about 22 gravity.
Persons who were at tho well say
that it will almost equal the famous
Mohawk after it steadies down to busi
ness, and although not quite so deep
and has not tho pressure, will prove a
close second.

They are heavily interested in the
Homestake and Unity.
Their newly acquired property Is In
26, 20-14. Forty acres of the Nether
lands and sixty acres of the San Juan
companies comprise the new purchase,
added to the thirty acres of the Home
stake and the forty of tho Unity, rlvliir;
them 170 acres of the best of territory.
The new company WM capitalized for
$350,000, and took possession of the
property Monday.
For three months the Blair has been
endeavoring: to get the pipe loose in or
der to put in a new shoe and other
necessaries. Today it was started and
several hundred feet were removed,
aSHuriiifj the beginning of active work
with larger pipe at an curly date. It
will be but a short time now before
the water will bo shut off.
The Hub was in fifteen feet of the
blue shale 1 today, and still going satls
'illy.
The I.'ttle Jumbo will soon be moving
along ag'itn with Its old-time swing.
M. K. md T. No. 3 is making nearly
400 barrels a day.
CONFLICTING REPORTS
ABOUT THE LAKE VIEW
ARE IN CIRCULATION
Conflicting reports about the Lake
View gusher continue to be circulated.
Some say the well is doing as much oil
as ever. Others say the production haw
decreased. A few have tho courage to
My the casing (and consequently the
well) is a, wreck. The Herald an
nounced the fact last Saturday and
was called a liar by the ones It scooped.
Such a. well as the Lake View could
not last, and when its casing sprung
a leak it was as good as dead.
The Kxamlner yesterday acknowl
edged in a Bakersfleld dispatch the
truth in part. It wild:
"According; to the best expert opinion
it is only a matter of time when tho
Lake. View gusher must end in sudden
ruin from one of several causes, and
the time set for the closing chapter of
the great well's career is not far dis
tant.
"Although absolute confirmation of
the report is lacking:, It seems pretty
certain that the casing la already
■wrecked, that large sections of it have
been expelled from the well, and,that
the boring out of the earthen walls Into
a great crater is well advanced."
FIRE DESTROYS DERRICKS
TULSA, Okla., March 29.—F1r0 at

$100,000 In the Glenn Pool oil , field.
Twenty-live oil rißs and twenty tanks
were consumed. The fire started in

Big Jump Due
The one time that stock In oil com
panies makes Its big advance in price is
when the first well Is brought in. Note
the recent cases of Mohawk, which
Jumped from 75c to $3; of Silver Tip,
from 680 to $3.50; of California Midway,
from 150 to COc. It la reasonable and
logical that such big advances should
take place, for while It may only re
quire from $5000 to $50,000 to complete
an oil well, such wells when completed
are worth from $100,000 to $500,000, and
make a splendid rate of earning on such
valuations. *

REACHES 200 FEET DEPTH
Word was received yesterday from
section 31!, 12-23, where the Los Ange
les-McKlttrick Oil company is drilling,
that the weir was now about 200 feet
in depth, with the work progressing
rapidly. Vice President Lee Butler of
the company declares that the well
should be finished within sixty days,
as one of the most competent crews of
drillers working in the Marlcopa ter
ritory has been employel. This crew
drilled the famous Wellnian, Ethel D.
and Monte Cristo wells.
Rapid progress is also being made by
the Eugene E. Schmitz company, which
is operating on an adjoining section.
The Schmitz people are using a hlsh
class rotary rig, and Intend to drill
2500 feet in twenty-one days, which will
be a remarkable feat if accomplished.

We hold a 20-year lease on 80
acres in Section 34 (12-23) of the
Sunset Oil Field. We are just
northeast of Maricopa and In line
with the Midway gushers to the
northwest. The gigantic gusher,
the LAKE VIEW, the "daddy" of
them all, is just directly west of
us. The Honolulu is north of us.
K. T. & O. and many others line
up on our formation.
Our Location
Geologists tell us that we have a
singularly favorable; situ for a giant
gusher ourselves. That the forma
tion dips toward our 80-acre plat
on three sides. Ho we are actually
in the hasin of Petroleum Richness.
