6 IS YOUR NAME HERE? Here Are The Herald's Contest Candidates! These are the people nominated by themselves and friends to participate in the greatest voting enterprise ever arranged by a newspaper of Southern California and, as participants, to share in the distribution of over $25,000 in prizes. This is the biggest list of finest people ever entered in a voting enterprise. r 1 ELL, here is the list of candidates in The Herald's $25,000 Voting Contest. Hours have been.spent checking up, districting and arranging the names but here is the list all complete up I[° 6 o'clock Wlast evening. Is your name here? If it isn't—and you desire to become a candidate— send in your name today; fill out the nomination slip at the bottom of this page and then GET BUSY ! You can enter at any time, but NOW is THE time! Readers will notice that several candidates have more votes than the thousand votes given all candidates, upon being nominated. These candidates have started campaigning the minute they were nominated. Some nominated themselves and began getting votes, others started hustling when notified ot their being nominated. Some may have votes which they have not cast yet. Th Contest ha- been arranged for "live" people; for people who can appreciate a $5300 home, a $3380 Knox tourabout; a double trip to the Orient or any of the magnificent prizes which I—| make up a Sthat aggregates cvfr $25,000 andfor people whohave the "ability" to make what they desire theirs through energy. Every prize goes for energy and energy alone. Energy will 1 I get votes and votes will get the prizes. The sooner one.starts campaigning, the sonner will that candidate have a handsome start toward a winning vote total. Understand there is no "guessing "no "chance," "no "drawing" or no such thing as "luck" in this Contest. ENERGY is the thing! There will be, can be, no favorites! It's WHAT YOU DO that will count not who you arc 1° you have.g riends, organize them into an "army of workers" and have them organize their friends into another army. See all the peop c you can not merely to secure 7h?W votes beforTsomeone e"se doel but to "swea? them in" as lieutenants, in your army. Headwork, not footwork, gets the best results. Think big things, do big things, and big things will be yours. f that Unde«Snd So that the" voS'achedule the highest NOW it will ever be again 7 Up until 10 o'clock Saturday evening, April 9, every dollar turned in on a new subscription will count you 200 votes, but after that hoiir In Zfdltc you wUI get but 190 votes on every dollar paid in on a new subscription, and until the same hour pn that date, every dollar paid in on an old subscription will get you 100 votes, but after that. hO"r ~&*K&sb^*£VSs#Z PeSd closes at the same hour on the same date. Five splendid special prizes will go to the five candidates who have the five greatest vote totals at 10 o'clock Sat urday evening April 9. All votes must be cast by that hour to count on this special prize offer, which comprises the following prizes. 3 * * First stepping-stone prize—$350 scholarship in the Page Military academy. Second stepping-stone prize—$350 scholarship in the Page seminary. Third stepping-stone prize—slBo scholarship in the Cumrrock School of Expression. Fourth stepping-stone prize— course in the New York School of Acting. Los Angeles. Fifth stepping-stone prize—sso gold watch to be selected from S. B. Bailey's array of beautiful things _ V These prizes, will go to the five leaders, i.e., the five with the five highest totals at 10 o'clock Saturday evening April 9 " An excellent way to make your vote total grow by leaps and bounds is to turn in as many clubs as often as possible. By clubs is meant clubs of subscribers turned in at one and the same.time, regardless of Whether they are of the same length or net, will get you a hundred extra votes on each dollar making up the club. Here san "illustration club' Four new yearly subscriptions represent $20 and hence get 4000 votes on regular schedule. Ten new subscriptions representing $32.75 call for 6550 votes on regular schedule. Three six months' subscriptions represent $8.25 and hence get 1650 votes on regular schedule. Add 100 extra votes for each dollar in club 3275 votes. Three quarterly subscriptions represent $4.50 and hence get 900 votes on regular schedule. So the grand total of votes on the club is 9825. Candidates and their friends will see that the longer the subscriptions, whether in clubs or singly, the greater the number of votes. Five classified advertisement coupon books also constitute a club and call for 100 extra votes on each dollar. feature Send in your pk.ur,a,S ,£. ske.ch about y'o^elf.
