part n FLORENCE LEASE HAS NEW STRIKE The Seven Troughs Co. Resumes Work with Prospects for Fine Results A new strike of rich gold ore In the Florence lease on the Seven Trough! Mining company's estate Is reported from camp. The new ore body has been encountered in a raise from tho 300-foot level in the gold vein, which is oast of the ledge In which last year was opened a largo shoot of ore In which silver values predominate. With the raise Just entering the shoot two fret of quartz carrying free gold was shown, and it Is believed to be ' the geblnnlng of an ore body of exceeding richness. Ore has been opened in four places In the Florence lease and the shoots nre all strong. In the drift from a -winze sunk from the 200-foot level In tho south end of the lease rich silver ore Is being stoped, while in the north end the ore carries more gold than silver. In drifts from the bottom of the winze from the 300-foot level both ends are In ore, while the strike in the raise promises important new re sources. Operations In the Fairvlew upon company account were resumed last ■week Work for the present will bo confined to the 450-foot level, where a good showing of ore was opened Just before work was closed down last win ter. It li expected that within sixty days the heavier machinery will bo on the ground, when active exploratory and development work will be conduct ed in the lower levels. It is likely that a drift will be sent out to get under the large ore bodies opened in the Florence lease, when the mine should be in form for largo production— Held Tribune. BEQUEATHS $10 TO SON; $5000 FOR TOMBSTONE Connecticut Man Leaves a Will That Shocks Dutiful Youth POTTII XnnWALK. Conn., April SO—John G. As tho son, William H. Hoffman, lived in harmony with his father, the division of the estate In this manner was most unexpected. The son began an action in court today to h;ivA the will set aside. Mr. Hoffman had always been sound of ■6nse and close of purse, living In an outhouse, while ho rent»d his fine residence in Wilton avenue. He spent two weekH in preparation for death after having what he called a "vision." The coroner said death was due to apoplexy. German Doctor Makes Discovery Regarding Headaches BERLIN, Ai.rll 30.-TO drink alcoholic bev erages to the extent that you feel the effects the day after, you arc a sick man, says Dr. Delbrick, a prominent German physician. He Insists that Ills theory is based on facts and investigations made In the course of many years' study of the subject of alcoholism. Drink, according to him, Is a disease. II" urges a movement against drink on the same lines pursued In the white, plague campaign. He would have exhibitions In cities to show tho effects of this alcoholic disease, and would employ, lecturers to tell how tho disease may bo cured or prevented. Dr. Delbrlck believes that enough pictures can be taken to tell the story eloquently. The amount of liquor consumed in Germany, ac cording to him, is entirely too large in pro portion to the population. He believes In taking a, drink now and then, hut no more. Ho urges the government to tahe up the problem of the cure of this dis ease, which ha says is spreading like an epi demic all over Germany and supping Its vi tality. VASSAR PEEVED BECAUSE SEAL SAYS 'ALWAYS FRESH' Biscuit Company Stirs Up a Row with Brand on Its Chocolates KANSAS CITT, April 30.— Vassar college seriously objects to any ■ suggestion that Its students are "always frwh" "r that they wear mortar boards. Allegations to this effect are set forth in a suit filed In the United States court here this afternoon, which seeks to restrain the Loose-Wiles Biscuit company from using the word "Vassar" on a certain brand of chocolates. The petition recites that Vassar objects to the Imitation seal and the picture of a supposed college girl which forms the centerpiece of the seal. The picture is of a young woman In srholastic garb with a mortar board. The official corporate seal of the college has been imitated on the advertisement placed on the candy boxes. On the face of the seal Is represented a woman with a book and a sprig of myrtle. In the background on the hill is a Greek temple. Over all. at the top, on the rim, near the edge, are the words, "Vassar chocolates." At the bottom, under the female figure, whore. on the official seal, "Purity and Wisdom," should be,: the defendants have placed the words. "Always fresh." Quoting from the complaint: "The words, always fresh.' seem on the fictitious seal to be applicable to the female figure above It, and Is a matter of ridicule and reproach."
