As she stood on the pier in
%the moonlight (no, I'm not
going to say someone stole
the pier) her face beamed
with .heavenly peace and she
failed to detect the odor of
discarded bait that was
strong enough to affect the
tide. ' With clasped hands
she stood' and. gazed far
a-sea, unconsciously asking
of no one, "What are the
wild waves saying tonight ?"
Instantly the answer came
from the tumultuous water,
"Oh, g'wan sit down, anybody that has horse sense
knows that we waves are simply asking for a chance
to get in on some of the good things in Los Angeles
county, and not be compelled to slop around over
thousands of miles of salty sand until the crack o'
doom.
"You people that go crazy with the heat give
even the little ripples a tired feeling, to say noth
ing of the way we suffer.
"Grab your chance when you can and don't exer
cise your mind over our moist conversation."
Watch for chances in the classified pages of The
Herald.

PIANOS ,__'■
• WE HATE TO TALK
about ourselves, but we are proud of the
fact that we carry the finest pianos and
player pianos ever offered for the price. Of
course there are reasons. First of all, we
don't sell any piano that can't stand the
test, and the real vital point Is we are on
the second floor and our low expenses enable
us to sell you the best pianos and player
pianos for the lowest possible price. Why
not investigate? Why pay more elsewhere?
We handle pianos from the very best "Chick
ering Bros." to a piano for $200. We have
several flne used pianos at a sacrifice—
Weber, $250; Robert M. Cable's Best, four
year, old, flne condition, only $200, and a
flne sample piano built the best for $260,
worth $400, together with some cheaper in
struments. . _,
