wus a girl many a time I trudged out on the turnpike with my \
brothers en sisters to meet the show an' watch the show folks fix
up the wagons with banners an' all the glltterin' truck that went
a long ways to make young folks think circus day was next door
to heaven. Those days folks drove Into town from miles an" miles
around an", under every kerriage er wagon you could mos' allus see ;
the family dog, an' If he got safe homo without havln' his earsi
chawed off by theitown dogs he wus a lucky canine; an' then the
1 circus—with the performln' lions, the bareback riders, the clown
an' the one-wheeled buggy that wus allus rode by a tipsy lady (a
man dressed up), an' the kickin' mule. j Great days! I ain't so
ol'-fashioned but what I can see that these days er better a long
