If the engineers west o' the Mississippi go on a strike fer an
indefinite period it'll be an awful long walk to Chicago. Emily
says that the strike won't amount to anything 'cause William
Randolph Hearst is jist waitin' fer a chance to start his "Prom
Ocean, to Ocean Airship Line." Wouldn't that make you giggle?
I'm thinkin' W. R. H. won't never amount to much in the airship
line, but he ought to do a heap In furnlshin' the llftin' power fer
a line o' "hot air" balloons, but don't believe that they would
flgger very strong ez strike-breakers. I hope that the engineers
won't go out until they git a good part o' the crowd here as wants
to come. After that I hope they'll git what they ask for an' that
there won't be no strike. Along that line I believe that the
department o 1 commerce an' labor should git busy afore the strike
is declared an" see if it can't be settled without dlsturbin' the
business o' the country. They've advertised the department as a
good thing, now let it be shown to be as advertised. Advertisln'
is one thing; makin' good on what you advertise is another. If
you've got a good thing, advertise it. If you convince people you
have something really good they'll hunt you up, but you've got to
tell 'em what you've got an' where to find you er it'll be nothin'
